The Gray Escape Hair + Brow Mascara is your on-the-go fast-fix hair mascara for gray hair. The quick-cover root touch-up uses a precision brush for targeted coverage and a quick-drying formula that blends seamlessly. Also ideal for brows, this multitasker keeps grays covered and brows perfected.

HOW TO USE
On Hair:
Apply directly to any noticeable roots or grays. Hold your hair gently against your head and use controlled strokes, targeting gray strands.
Allow a few minutes to air-dry or blow-dry 30-60 seconds on medium-to-high heat. To remove, shampoo normally.
On Brows:
Gently swipe over brows to define, perfect, and add color.
Pro Tip:
A little goes a long way! Before applying, wipe any excess product off the wand on the rim of the vial – just like a mascara. Our high-pigment formula is buildable, so start with light strokes and add more as needed.

Q: Will it rub off on a pillowcase?

  • A: The Gray Escape hair mascara is designed to be pillow-proof. That said, if you apply a heavier amount or go to bed with damp hair, some transfer may occur. If you find that any product does get on your pillowcase, it should wash out easily with regular laundry detergent.

Q: Does the hair need a wash the next day after applying this or will it befine to let it stay on hair for 3-4 days?

  • A: The Gray Escape hair mascara does not need to be washed out after one day of wear. You can leave the product on the hair until your next shampoo. You may want to retouch it after the first day, typically around the hairline where it may come into contact with cleanser, skincare, or makeup products.

    Disappointed

    I was very excited to try the Root Touch-Up mascara. Unfortunately, it was a complete disappointment. It leaves your hair sticky, and the color is very dark, even when I selected the lighter option. I tried different ways, thinking that I was probably doing something wrong. I let it dry, brushing my hair after applying—the results were always disastrous. It feels weird because I love every product I've tried from Madison Reed, but I would not recommend this one at all.

    Brow Mascara

    Fair.....the brush roughed up the hair where I was applying it and I suggest a FOAM BRUSH instead of the mascara type brush

    Terrible! Powder works much better.

    I have used Madison-Reed products for years, and love almost every product I have tried. The light brown Hair and Brow Mascara is a glaring exception. I am going back to Madison Reed's root touch-up powder, which does a far better job temporarily covering and blending gray roots. Maybe it's just me, but this product did not cover my grays at all. Overall, Madison Reed earns an A+, but the Hair and Brow Mascara earns an F.

    Awful for hair

    Not at all. This might be the worst product I've gotten from Madison Reed. I hadn't really enjoyed their powder for root touchup. I found a challenging to use. This one seemed more promising. First of all literally looks like mascara. The brush is very long. I didn't use it on my eyebrows, but I do believe if I tried, it may catch some stray hairs, and be hard to target the area. As for my hair, it looks like paint. It went on goofy. It literally is a mascara brush. It combs the hair and you can see now my hair is greasy and looks terrible. I am so grateful I didn't use this after I straightened my hair because I would have to wash it. This is the last Madison Reed product. I will try besides their hair color.

    greying eyebrows

    i like the brush of this product. I do find it sticky if used on hair line. I ordered it for my eyebrows and covers well, although it flakes into little pieces in extreme heat.

    Frustrating

    The product applicator sticks to your hair making it tough to put on, especially long hair. Tried small strokes in little areas but got the same results.

    Cover gray mascara

    [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] [I received this product in exchange for my honest review] Great grey or blond coverage, the brush gets on every hair and doesn't smudge, I like it for an everyday natural look. Easy to use and easy to store and carry in my purse maintenance and size. Compared to other ones like it I like this one because of how much it grabs during application. But I also wish it would give some length or volume.

    I waited to write a review . I can say this brow color is so easy to use . I have had my brows professionally colored and have done at home . This is the easiest and the color last if done daily.

    Covers grays perfectly

    This product works better than other hair mascara cover ups that I have tried with a wand. It doesn't feel very greasy and dries pretty quickly. Covers my grays well between salon visits. Would recommend!

    Concept is good, application is not

    Got this product because the concept seemed great. However, application is messy and made my hair stiff. Will return to root coverage using another product from another company. Hair color products remain awesome!

    Fantastic coverage!

    I love this product! My stylist is on maternity leave and knew my grays would be out. I tried L'Oréal, and that didn't work. So I took a chance on this and not only did it work, it lasted for weeks!! The color is also perfect!! I will be continuing to use it, even when she comes back, to space my appointments out!! Highly recommend!

    Great product
