Q: I used Magic Root Rescue for the first time. I had a great deal of gray roots due to Corona. I was able to get to the front roots but ran out before doing the back grays. When is it safe to touch up the missed areas?

This product did not work at all! My roots are still gray! I normally use the Clairol root touch up kit but the store was out of my color and I thought I would try this. I followed the directions but it not cover the gray at all!! 😔So disappointed because I use L'oreal skin care and and makeup all of the time.

I was really excited to use this product. I have some resistant grays and thought this would do the trick after seeing it on YouTube. I used the number 5 medium brown, which is what I normally color my hair at the salon. However my hair at the root as well as at my temple look reddish blonde😩

Hi there St17! We are sorry to hear that Magic Root Root Rescue 10 Minute Root Hair Coloring, 5-Medium did not cover your gray roots! We suggest using one shade darker. If your hair is over 50% gray and you have been coloring for several years, the amount of gray you now have may have increased over time. If you find that you are not getting the same color results as in previous color applications, you may need to use one shade darker to compensate for the lack of pigment.

This is the only root touchup product I've ever used that does not fade! The smell is minimal also. So glad I discovered this! I have tried almost everything out there from hair color products to touch up sprays. This one actually covers in 10 minutes and makes my hair feel and look great.

The product did not work for me. I followed the instructions correctly and then once I dried my hair, most of the gray was still there. I don't have large areas of gray, just around my hairline. I was so disappointed because it was so easy to use. I don't know if I'll try it again. I used the hair color and that worked well but I didn't want to have to do my whole head this time.

I was excited to try this product for the applicator brush. I bought dark/brown and set it for 20 minutes. Initially the coverage was great and the color was nice and dark. About two washes later, my grays are re-appearing. Very disappointing. Don't waste your time.

This was my first time using ROOT COVER up products. I chose LOREAL because it is a name I trust. However, I was extremely disappointed in this product. It made my hair sticky and did not cover the roots at all. I only really had a few to cover too. I would not purchase this particular product again. I used the DARK BROWN applicatio.

I would definitely give this a five-star review except the directions suggest 10 minutes, which is not long enough to cover the gray. You need to experiment and leave it on for a minimum of 20 to 30 minutes.

I have black hair and this product covers gray better than the regular Loreal hair color. It lasts about three weeks but given you only have to leave it on for 10-15 minutes, it is less hassle than the regular color. I sometimes use two of these instead of a single regular hair color. Just make sure you dont have a lot of conditioner residue or oil in your hair before you apply it because that will prevent the color from being absorbed

I thought the application process was excellent, I was able to control my coverage easily. However, even leaving the color on for 15-20 minutes, my gray was back in less than one week. I am so disappointed. I was so hopeful because I like L'Oreal products.

It’s a waste of money. Finally got around to coloring a few strands that are gray at my roots. I guess it’s true that it does color the gray hair 100% “during application”, because once this product is washed out, my gray roots were right there pointing and laughing at me. I wish this had worked because it was so very easy to use.

We know how disappointing it can be to look forward to a new application of color only to find that your results are not what you expected. Gray hair is sometimes resistant to color. For best coverage, begin your application on the grayest areas and leave the product on your gray hair longer. If you have tried the extended timing and still need better gray coverage, we suggest using one shade darker. If your hair is over 50% gray and you have been coloring for a number of years, the amount of gray you now have may have increased over time. If you find that you are not getting the same color results as in previous color applications, you may need to use one shade darker to compensate for the lack of pigment in your hair. For resistant gray, you may also wish to try the Excellence Creme Haircolor. We appreciate your interest in L'Oreal!

I’ve been using this root touch-up for the past couple years. It’s mess free, convenient and darkens my roots pretty well. I usually purchase the dark brown color and keep it in for 20-30 minutes. It gets the job done and the color lasts over a month until my grays grow out again. I’m sure there are better root touch-up but this one works for me.
