The Master Lock 3DLF Laminated Padlock with Key features a 1-9/16 in. (40mm) wide laminated steel body for maximum strength and reliability. The 9/32 in. (7mm) diameter shackle is 1-1/2 in. (38mm) long and made of hardened steel, offering extra resistance to cutting and sawing. The 4-pin cylinder prevents picking and the dual locking ball bearings provide resistance against prying and hammering. Q: Are the lock and key combos unique to each unit? Or can anyone who buys one of these open the one I bought?

A: Your lock is a retail lock that is prepackaged and sold in bulk to a wide range of distributors. With retail products, unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that each lock will have their own specific key numbers. An option for you would be to purchase a commercial lock that we can assign a specific key number or key range for.

Solid Build Quality but easily picked despite advertising
Bought this lock to practice my new lock picking hobby. The package says that it has "extra pick resistance" but I was able to pick this lock in under a few minutes. I handed it to my wife and she was able to pick the lock as well. For general low security purposes it will discourage thieves but it is by no means resistant to picking

Defective key and Design Flaw
This lock was supplied with two keys. However, only one key opened the lock, while the "duplicate" failed to release the mechanism. Additionally, I removed the blue plastic advertisement band at the bottom of the lock for outdoor use and discovered that the stacked steel layers beneath the beauty belt were approximately 1/8 inch thinner than the main body of the lock. I am not pleased to have been supplied with a defective key and lock which prioritizes aesthetics over security. Purchased at 2512 Hillsborough St, Raleigh, NC 27607-7249 on 11/26/19.
