Miracle-Gro Potting Mix for Container Plants, Flowers, Vegetables, Shrubs, Annuals, Perennials, Feeds up to 6 Months, 2 cu ft

I used to use this product all the time. Now all of my container plant are dying after 1 week. The product is full of wood chips, and is horrible

I bought 2 bags of this for my outdoor pots, but I am very unhappy with quality of the potting soil. It is full of chunky wood pieces and my plants are not doing well in it at all! Past years the potting soil was much better quality. The promised grow 3x bigger plants are false. I had to give extra nutrients in order for them to thrive. What happened to the quality??

This is a perennial Hibiscus on it's 3rd season. I left it in the nursery soil originally. It almost died the first season. I kept it over the winter somehow and last summer it lived, but looked like Charlie Brown's Christmas tree. Don't know why I kept it, but this spring I replanted it with Miracle grow soil. This little hibiscus that could, has transformed into a thriving, beautiful plant. Unbelievable.

I would like to begin by saying that I have purchased Miracle-gro products for decades. With that said, this year, I purchased a number of bags of Miracle-gro potting mix. What I have found was no soil in any of my bags. All that is in them is sticks, of varying sizes, bark, of varying sizes, peat moss, some perlite, and what appears to be some type of fir. Granted, I will gladly admit that there is benefit to these products. However, they should not comprise the entirety of a potting mix. There needs to be soil in some form or quantity. I did still have two bags from last year, which I did open. The difference was truly astonishing for what is supposed to be the same product.

Just opened a brand new bag of miracle gro potting soil and it was full of gnats. Disgusting and don't dare use for fear they will spread.

Last year….great product that I’ve used for 20 yrs This year…..terrible! Used it for outdoor planters but I would not use for my houseplants There are poor reviews from last year but apparently you are more interested in profit and not quality and fixing the product.

I bought two new bags, have used only one. Two plants had to be re potted and my husband helped me take them outside, took them out of the pots, and I literally hosed off all the old potting soil and then put them in bigger pots with the new soil. I now have once again been infested with bugs from your potting soil! I have fought what I thought were fungus gnats from your soil for months and almost had them eradicated, but thought it was maybe due to storage of the bags at the store. Never again!!

Comparing an older bag of miracle grow to the 2025 miracle grow potting mix is night and day difference. The new product contains cheap materials including huge chunks of bark.

Very disappointing this year. Looks like ground up tree bark. Water does not drain. It's suffocating my plants which are all in pots. Never again miracle grow.

I wrote a review 9 days ago concerning the "Potting" soil. I then purchased the "Garden" soil. Really bad idea! It was full of mold and smelled really really bad! But, I thought I'd just let it dry out and maybe it would be usable...not so! The mold just hardened up. I can not believe that this company has gotten this bad!!!@

I bought 8 bags for my raised beds to move my swash into. The bags smelled rancid agree I poured them out but I assumed it was just natural things inside the soil. After transferring my squash I noticed the soil looking like it was crawling and flies everywhere. The soil is infested with fungus Nats. This is so gross and discouraging

I have been shocked and saddened by Miracle Gro Potting Mix product, which I assume is being marketed as a replacement for Miracle Gro Potting Soil. In my opinion, it is nothing but peat moss and sticks! I have spent the morning picking out 4” clods of hard peat moss and adding huge amounts of Pearlite to make soil fit to grow flowers. I used it a week ago, unamended, in several flower beds, and it turned into concrete within two days! I literally could not loosen the soil with my fingers. Even using a spade, the soil just broke into big, compacted clods. I can hardly believe that Miracle Gro — which has been a gold standard in quality potting soil for decades — has decided to yield to pressure from “green bullies,” whose experience with gardening (if they have any at all) often consists of a few little grow boxes on apartment balconies and a belief that “organic” anything will save mankind — and/or the common malady of chasing after the gods of corporate profit. After all, if you can brainwash customers into believing that Martha Stewart is the real Mother Earth, that her testimony of Miracle Gro Organic soil is actually an altruistic public service announcement, and that they would be foolish to rely on their hard-earned gardening experience and place their delicate, young plants into the LaBreya tar pit of peat moss. I realize this review is sounding rabid. Most people consider me a kind, accommodating person. However, I work so hard each year to grow lovely, healthy flowers and plants, and to be kicked in my shins by a product that should be a support to my efforts, not a Trojan horse of sabotage, is a painful disappointment. I am just so, so sad that Miracle Gro has become another entry on my long list of let-downs.

I have enclosed a photo the number of wooden sticks, petrified wood and some sort of cotton like substance I found in 3 cups worth of Miracle Grow Potting soil. The amount of time it takes to weed out this material is not worth it. I’m going elsewhere.

I purchased 2 bags of Miracle Gro and it was filled with tons of plastic. I will never buy this crap again. Not what it used to be.

I have used Miracle-Gro for years. I have always loved it. I just purchased 4 large bags for my plants this year only to discover that there isn't much dirt if any at all. Also, I have a thousand tiny splinters in my hands. What the heck happened?? This is not the same "soil" that I used to use!! I won't be purchasing it anymore!!!

I have used this product for years with great results. This year is a different story. Plants are not growing and about 20% have died. I don't know if I will ever buy it again.

I've used miracle grow for years, no problem this year is a nightmare. The soil sours and turns green. I have small greenhouse and have lots of plants that won't grow and die. Bought 15 bags, all soured. Done with product.

We purchased a large amount of soil to fill garden beds, and discovered pieces of broken glass large and sharp enough to cut skin mixed into the soil in several bags. This is a clear safety hazard. We garden as a family and I had to send my kids away while we used gloves to fill the beds and check through the soil as carefully as possible and remove the glass pieces while emptying each bag. In addition the soil had quite a bit mulch and twigs mixed into it.

Every year in last few years, the quality has went down. Large pieces of gravel - stones! Large bits of mulch & sticks- way too many! I can’t even grab a handful without having to sift it. What is going on? Gnats too? Is there a reason you won’t go back to your original formula we all used for decades? I definitely can’t plant seedlings or seeds in this mess - it’s too chunky. I just want soil like you used to make. Also, quality control among bags is so inconsistent. Bought 2 huge bags, one was better than the other, one contained a LOT of rocks & huge chunks of mulch. I want my mulch added by me on TOP of my pots etc - I just cannot understand why every year it gets worse. Every year I buy again thinking surely they’ll listen to our feedback this year….Extremely disappointed. I’m going to have to figure out an alternative to this mess :(
