Q: Has this product changed? I ordered what’s pictured, but it arrived with “new” printed on the box and no longer says “Glide threader floss” just “threader floss.” It’s also made of cotton like fibers that look like they’ll snag on my wire! Very annoying!

submitted by anothermama - 1 year ago
  • A: Exactly what I found. Wish I would’ve read this before I purchased. The packaging is nice with a colored threader on each end and multiple contained in each envelope. But the floss itself snags and makes fingernails on chalkboard sounds and feels terrible between my teeth.

submitted byTallJenny - 7 months ago
  • A: Yes. It had changed and the new version is absolute garbage.

submitted byMommaUT - 1 year ago
  • A: They definitely changed it and not for the better. The old pro-health threader floss was way better than this new threader floss that shreds and gets caught on braces.

submitted byScreenname - 1 year ago
  • A: Yes, it has changed from a glide gloss with a threader into a woven gloss with a threader. It’s an awful product and I hope they bring back the old version.

submitted byWburke - 10 months ago
  • A: this is AWFUL! can’t believe they are saying they haven’t changed it. ummmm. yes they have. and it’s AWFUL!! what a waste

submitted byBirzy - 8 months ago
  • A: Absolutely changed, cheap plastic now. Never again

submitted byCHANGED FORMULA TO TRASH - 9 months ago
  • A: Oral B changed the product but kept the UPC bar code the same. Very deceptive for Oral B to switch the product and claim it’s the same. The new product is just a more expensive version of their Super Floss. It’s awful.

submitted byDisappointed Flosser - 1 year ago
  • A: What "Dentist Recommended" this and what dental school did they attend? I do not recommend, unless you want to spend bonus time with your hygenist detangling this trash from your braces.

submitted byTake care warning - 11 months ago
  • A: Worst product ever designed in the history of floss. Whoever made this needs to be fired. I really hope that OralB is bringing back the regular flossers. This was a catastrophic FAIL!!

submitted byMyFullTimeFamily - 1 year ago
  • A: It’s definitely changed. And changed for the worse. I used the original for years because it’s the only thing that worked around my implants without snagging and shredding. This stuff is a nightmare. It got caught and I had to use tweezers to get it out more than once. And I swear some got stuck and I ended up with soreness until it worked its way out. IMO it is not a safe product.

Q: What flavor is this floss?

submitted by NatalieS - 2 years ago
  • A: This floss is unflavored.

  • A: No flavor, but don’t believe the stars that’s been given to it. It had higher ratings for the PREVIOUS style of flossing but they have changed it sometime in August 2024. Now the new flossing is completely useless. There are no good reviews since August 20th…therefore, it tack the version onto the previous ratings are MISLEADING! Shame on you Oral B.

Q: Why, why, why did you change the formulation on this floss?? It's absolutely terrible.

submitted by MLMPLS - 8 months ago
  • A: We're always looking for ways to improve our products. With this change, our floss is softer and gentle and uses nylon and a soft, elastic material that offers triple action cleaning. It's also more durable and resists against tearing in use. We're sorry you're not a fan, and we'd like to talk about this. Please call us at (800) 566-7252.

I would give it 0 stars if I could. This product is a complete waste of money. It’s a terrible replacement and doesn’t work for what I needed. On top of that, it’s a waste of time having to go back and get something else that actually works. I hope I can return it and get my money back.

I would give it no stars if I could. This is a terrible replacement to the Glide Pro Health. Bring back the GLIDE threaders this new floss is too thick to use between bridges. It shreds and is almost impossible to remove the residual shredded threads. Had to find a pair of tweezers. I have discarded the three boxes I had bought. PLEASE go back to the original

Lynntom, We’re sorry to hear our Threader Floss feels too thick and is shredding, leaving pieces stuck between your teeth. As you’ve noticed, we’ve transitioned to a new microtextured floss fiber that’s still strong and shred-resistant, and we’re disheartened to learn this wasn’t the case for you. When we design our products, we do extensive research and consumer testing to create features that we think you will love. We know that preferences can vary from person to person, so we will be sure to share this with the rest of our team. We’ll also be sure to that you’d like to see the previous version return. Safety is our top priority, and all our flosses are thoroughly evaluated to ensure optimal performance and be safe when used as directed. Since it is getting stuck in your teeth, we suggest discontinuing use of this box and holding onto it for 2 weeks in case we may need to retrieve it. We value your feedback, and we'd like to collect some more information about your floss so we can further help you and our Quality and Safety Teams. Please give us a call at (800) 566-7252 to share more.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us, B. We apologize that the Oral-B Threader Floss is shredding, and fibers are getting stuck in your permanent retainer. This isn’t how we expect the product to perform, and we will share your message with our Quality and Safety Teams. Oral-B continually improves materials and strives to deliver the best products. CattyAnn, we’re sorry to hear about your experience with our Threader Floss. Please be assured that safety and quality are our top priorities, and all our products undergo thorough evaluation to ensure they’re safe when used as directed and perform to the highest standards. We recommend discontinuing use of the product if the floss becomes stuck in your teeth. The new microtextured floss fibers are soft and gentle on your gums while effectively cleaning around dental work, making it an excellent addition to your flossing routine. When using this product, wind the floss around your fingers to create slight tension; this tension should help to avoid snagging. Your feedback is invaluable and will be shared with our Safety and Quality team. Additionally, we will inform them that you’d like to see the previous version of Threader Floss return. We’d love to assist you further and gather more details. Please call us at (800) 566-7252.

I used the old version and loved it. However, this version is like trying to use yarn to floss your teeth with. I couldn’t even use it on a single tooth, and it got stuck in between my retainer and teeth. It was literally useless and I just threw it away. It also seemed pretty deceitful to use the exact same packaging but changing the entire makeup of the new version. I’m really disappointed. The other version was great, please bring those back!!

They changed the product, and it’s horrible. This is no longer a “gliding” floss, it’s a cotton/foam floss that is thick and for those with permanent retainers or braces, gets stuck in between your teeth or brackets. If the change is due to cost savings, I would rather pay more for a product that works than pay at all for an inferior product. Please bring back the former design/materials, it’s the only thing that worked for many of us.

We're so sorry you didn't have a better experience with the new microtextured Oral-B Glide Threader Floss, but appreciate your feedback. Because consumer safety is our top priority, we'd recommend that you stop using this product and set any remaining flosses aside in case our Safety Team wants to give them a closer inspection. If you call us at (800) 566-7252, we'll gather your contact information and be happy to make this up to you.

We always want to provide floss that works best with your smile, so we're sorry to hear our new Threader Floss is too thick and caused irritation while flossing, Shay. Safety is our top priority, and all our products are thoroughly evaluated to ensure they are safe when used as directed. If irritation persists, we recommend discontinuing the use of the Threader Floss. We're always improving floss materials to ensure we deliver the best products. This new "comfort floss" is awful and incredibly uncomfortable. Just like every other comment says, please go back to the old design. The new cushion floss is too thick and it is impossible to floss since it is so thick and fragile. It can't go through either my teeth, permanent retainer, or it breaks very easy. Go back to the old flavorless plastic threader please and I will buy again.

Awful new product, misleadingly labeled

1 out of 5 stars
SS - 29 days ago, Verified purchaser
This product is awful, and the packaging is deceptive. I bought the prior version for many years, and it was high quality and worked as described. Oral B has kept the exact same UPC, similar packaging, and very similar product descriptions (much of which is verbatim the same) for a completely different product. The new product is thick and fluffy and feels horrible to use. It gets stuck in between teeth and leaves bits of stringy fiber behind. It's much shorter than the old product as well, so even if one were able to force this between teeth, the floss would be dirty and used up before all teeth were flossed. The new product (unlike the old) apparently is to be used just on bridges and other dental appliances, and then Orap B expects people to also buy some other, second kind of floss to use on their actual teeth. So, in sum: Oral B made a vastly worse product, deliberately used the old UPC and much of the old product descriptions to trick consumers into buying it, raised the price, and want you to also buy "regular" floss to use in conjunction with this. Oral B's sneakiness in the product change is worse than the crappy product itself. I've used Oral B toothbrushes and floss for 20+ years, but now I'm done with the whole brand.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts about the Oral-B Threader Floss. We’re disheartened to hear that floss is getting stuck, shredding, and leaving pieces between teeth. We also apologize that you’re not enjoying the design of the updated floss and the packaging. We’ll share your message with our Safety, Quality, and Packaging Teams. Oral-B is continually improving materials and striving to deliver the best products. As a result, we’ve transitioned to our new micro-textured CleanTech floss fiber that’s still strong and shred-resistant. The soft, cushioned floss is designed to be gentle on the gums and cleans easily under and around orthodontics and appliances. We want to assure you that all our floss products undergo stringent tests to ensure they provide the best flossing experience and are safe when used as directed. We also conduct extensive market research and consumer testing when updating and designing our packaging to produce artwork and highlight changes that consumers will find pleasing and clear. Safety is at the heart of everything we do. Since the floss is getting stuck and leaving pieces of thread between your teeth, we recommend discontinuing use of the product if you haven’t done so already. Your satisfaction and years of loyalty to Oral-B mean a great deal to us. Please call us at (800) 566-7252 so we can learn more and provide you with the best assistance.
