I’m a huge PlayStation fan, so I originally got a Backbone. Huge mistake. You can’t see graphics that well on a phone. The Portal…amazing. Worth every penny. This makes gaming on the go a breeze and you just need to make sure your PlayStation is in rest mode or turned on. The graphics on the screen are better than my Switch. I love this device.

give this thing a chance. at first it was terrible, wouldnt connect to my wifi, lagged constantly and the home screen font would get small and fuzzy and never look correct. after restarting the portal, my modem and my ps5 it suddenly has been working flawlessly. it connects every time, it looks great and theres no stuttering at all. so far, so good. im hopeful this thing works out bc when it works, its really nice to use.

Honestly I’m enjoying it more than I thought I would. Been using it for about two months now. Pretty good for playing story games and some multiplayer. Primarily use it to play with my brother in the living room when he’s on his PS5 and I’m on my portal. With that being said it runs games well most of the time. Controls feel a little laggy due to the connection but you get use to it. Rarely experience frame rate drop or connection issues. Runs fine with my brothers PS5 connected with to the wifi and mine connected via lan while using the PS Portal. Overall would recommend but definitely room for improvement. Cons are definitely controls and rare frame rate drop and connectivity issues. High recommend using with PS5 connected via lan. Only ever use it while in the house no idea how it performs away from PS5.

The PlayStation Portal is a beast. It definitely does the job it was designed for. It connects to your PS5 and allows you to play your games via streaming. The device itself is innovative as it can be. It's basically a DualSense Controller with a screen attached to it. It certainly functions the same way a DualSense does. Except that it doesn't come with a DualSense Pad. The touchscreen serves as the pad in this case. It's not always seamless in that regard. Whenever I tried to access the pad, it didn't respond the way I wanted it to at times. It's not the most glaring issue. But it's definitely noticeable. The screen itself has a 1080p output that holds up very well. It definitely showcases how far handhelds have come in terms of fidelity. The games I've played so far look amazing on my Portal. Not quite as refined as playing on a big monitor. But it certainly looks great on it's own. The sound holds up well. It's almost as loud as my TV. You have the option to hook up headphones as well. Either via Bluetooth or through the headsets jack. As good as the Portal is, is does have a few drawbacks. The most notable being the need for a constant Internet connection and the inability to download games directly to the device itself. The Portal relies in Wi-Fi. You have to have an Internet connection to play it. I definitely recommend a strong connection whenever you stream on the Portal. I did see some lag here and there when playing on my Portal. It also went out twice when my Internet went out. As I said, you can't install games into your Portal. It can only play games via streaming. I definitely feel like this is a missed opportunity by Sony to showcase a full fledged handheld to complement the PS5. In conclusion, the PS Portal is a beast of a machine. It's definitely worth it. I just wish it was a full fledged beast.

I like the design of the portal to give you a comfortable grip as to the regular thing. Now when it comes to response over the portal, it makes gaming much harder than it should be. I get better quality playing on iPhone via remote play than the portal, on the same high speed connection. I bought it to play gran turismo to get the adaptive triggers for breaking and throttle response. Kept oversteering due to lack of response.

I received a ‘used’ item instead of ‘new’. The PlayStation packaging was opened and there was no power cord or instruction manual included. Also, the device was still connected to the previous owners PlayStation, Wireless Network, and it was still logged into their PS account.

Overall it isn’t terrible. Just depends on the game you play how good the graphics are and frame rates. It does what it needs to do and overall some of my games look better on it than my 4K monitors. Giving it a 4 star instead of 5 because when I purchased it someone had already opened and played with it and I didn’t notice the broken seal from target. Kind of frustrating when you buy something new.

Just had to return this item after one night of use. The handheld is completely unfinished and lacks the qualities it was promised from the start. I noticed latency, pixel issues, internet connection issues(I have gaming speed internet at home so definitely not my provider or anything like that)I experienced big frame drops as it promises 60fps and experienced just an all around not very good time. HUGE waste of 213 bucks and I recommend waiting until the official next gen hand held PlayStation models are released. Incredible idea, DOOKIE execution.
