Great compact rice cooker and steamer!
I’m well pleased with the efficient performance of my proctor silex 6 cup rice cooker and steamer. It seems sturdy and well made, does a great job of cooking up fluffy rice and steaming tender vegetables. Fits great on my smaller countertop and is easy to clean. This is my first proctorsilex rice cooker and I’m not disappointed with it.

Can’t cook 3 cups
The product description claims this can cook up to 3 cups of raw rice, but I just put in less than 2 1/2 cups and when it was finished, the pot was completely full all the way to the top. There's no way it will make 3 cups. Also, the little plastic thing surrounding the cook button is loose and wobbly.

Easy multiuse cooking appliance
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Saves so much time at dinner time not having to steam the vegetables on top of having to cook rice in a separate pot. Now I can just measure out the correct amount of water, place the steam basket on the top and its ready to go when the timers done. Takes all of the guess work out on when food will be done, and it was the most delicious rice we have had. weekly staple in our house and I couldn't imagine having to cook it any other way.

Small and sweet

Its small and compact, and fits nicely in a cabinet under our countertop, which is a huge plus. Instructions also easy to follow.

Nice Rice Cooker-Adjust Accordingly
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Proctor Silex rice cooker and steamer is a great addition to your kitchen appliances. Rice making is easy, although you may need to adjust the rice to water ratio (I did) as the amount of rice is based on the Japanese measurement of 6 ounces rice, which may end up being a bit too wet or sticky for North American tastes. A measuring cup is included, and according to the manufacturer a 1:1 ratio usually yield good results. As noted, I reduced the water. The product also has a steamer and it's a decent one. It's not huge but for one or two people it is sufficient. You can also steam veggies while you're making rice which is a nice time saver. (Make sure and use oven mitts to handle the steamer) The unit itself is a nice size for a kitchen counter. It looks good, doesn't take up a lot of space, and it works well.

But then I researched it. I can steam food on top, while cooking my rice below. The rice tasted so much better, I was amazed! and I put salmon and veggies on top, just delicious
