A classic!
This book is a must in any young girl's book collection. Olivia is smart, sassy, independent, and a dreamer. A refreshing change from all of the princess books out there. My daughter loves this book. In fact, so do my 2 sons.

"A Day in the Life..."
Olivia is a great depiction of what it is like to be a young girl from the child's perspective. It tells how she feels when it comes to taking care of family pets, putting up with little brothers, and going on some of her favorite adventures. We also find out about some of the trials that Olivia has to put up with such as taking a nap, sitting in time out, and getting ready for bed. This book would be great for young kids because it shows them that all kids go through the same things but at the end of the day no matter how much they wear someone out, that someone loves them anyways. Another reason I would recommend this book is for its illustrations. I love the way that it is done in black and white with a bit of color thrown into each picture to help enhance the subject of each page.

Olivia...the Great!!!
This book is an utter delight for young children. Ian Falconer did an amazing job illustrating Olivia throughout the book. This book is about an over energetic young pig, who lives with her parents, little brother Ian, her dog Perry and cat Edwin. She is a spectacular pig who is good at many things even tiring out everyone including herself. She is fashionable, artistic, and expressive in her everyday life. Young children and parents can relate to Olivia because she is so energetic, she goes from sun bathing, to sand castles, to admiring art in museums all without wanting to take a nap. Although, she is a nonstop, on the go child her mother still manages to read her a few books all while reminding her that she loves her. Great book! I encourage everyone to take time to read this book to their children, they will love this book!
