If your child is like mine and is going to be extremely upset that the animals pick and choose when they will make sound but choose to not make sound at all 90% of the time then do not buy this product. At first half of the board’s animals were making sound so I tried fixing the batteries again, and then the other half of the board starting working but the half that was originally working stopped. Then we tried turning it off and on again and the entire board stopped working. So we turned it off and on again and suddenly all the animals we had tried to get to make sound started making sounds the exact number of times we had pressed them like it was trying to catch up and then it stopped completely.

Honestly, if I could give this zero stars I would. I purchased this puzzle, got home and put brand new batteries in and it still didn’t work. Please don’t waste your time or money.

My son received this as a gift for Christmas absolutely loves it. He constantly asks for "my animals" but then gets very frustrated when it doesn't work (no sound or makes the wrong animal sound when a piece is placed). We've tried swapping batteries, using it in bright light, turning it off then on again. Sometimes we can get it working, sometimes only a few of the sounds will work. It's very inconsistent and frustrating, especially with a brand new toy.

My daughter received this puzzle for her birthday and the sounds did not work consistently. The sheep didn't work at all. We exchanged it for another hoping it was just a damaged puzzle, but the new one hardly ever works. We also ordered hee the musical instrument sound puzzle and it also does not work consistently. Most of the time no sounds work at all on either puzzle. Very, very disappointed. I think I am giving up on Melissa and Doug products as I have not been impressed with the quality.

It would be a great product if the noises consistently worked. Yes, we use it in a brightly lit room and the noises only make sound about 60-70% of the time. My son loves it when it does work well though.

I received this as a baby gift. It’s cute but it does require a battery that wasn’t included. The sensors didn’t work all that well at first you would have to put your finger over them for it to work. I was left on and it started making rooster noises in the toy box. It’s not the best made toy but it is one of my sons favorite toys!

I pulled this off the shelf today and it didn't work. It was sitting out of reach in the off position and it was used maybe 5 times under supervision. It didn't even last 2 months! That's awful.

This was sent to us as a gift for my daughters 1st birthday. I plopped some batteries in it and she immediately loved it, however within 10 minutes of having it she’d already started destroying the duck piece from putting it in her mouth, and within the hour the beak was peeled off. To be fair, it does say it’s for kids 2 years of age and up so I can’t really fault the product, but it’s still disappointing that it probably won’t last a month. Other than that, I think it’s a great toy especially if your kid likes animals.
