Nature's Recipe Grain Free Salmon, Sweet Potato & Pumpkin Recipe Dry Dog Food

My two golden retrievers love nature's recipe dog food, especially the Salmon sweet potato and pumpkin recipe. So happy when Target has a deal on it!

I give him wet food for dinner and dry food for lunch sometimes. I did the slow incorporation of the new food and initially he tasted it because it was new but now he eats around it. I know he's picky about his food so it was a gamble getting him onboard with this food. I now think he's not into salmon flavored dog food although he will eat fresh salmon 😂. If you're dog is picky you might want to go with another option.

He can be a bit picky, but he really likes the taste of this formula. The kibble is a nice size and consistency and is easy for him to eat. I do use toppers and broths regularly but they will eat it plain as well! Our picky boy loves this food thankfully, and our girl who isn't picky loves it too! They both get very excited at meal times and look forward to their meals. I will continue buying this brand happily.

We avoid grains due to his sensitivity (they make him gassy), so I appreciated the grain-free formula and that salmon is the first ingredient. While the packaging highlights "no poultry by-products," it's worth noting that chicken meal is the second ingredient. That's pretty common in dog food, but something to consider if your dog has a chicken sensitivity like mine. We mixed it half-and-half with his usual food—he had no issues and seemed to enjoy it. I also liked that there are no artificial colors, preservatives, or flavors. And the resealable packaging is a big plus for keeping things fresh and easy to store.

The ingredients are solid, and I feel good knowing I'm giving my dog a grain-free option with real salmon as the first ingredient.
