Good Cookbook
So far Ive tried a few recipes. I think our local Indian buffet is better. However, maybe because these recipes are from home cooks, I dont get tired of them easily. I by mistake cooked the dahl twice amount of what the recipe calls for (didnt know lentil could expand so much..) I thought it would disastrous for the next few days to finish it off. It turned out not a problem at all. That just shows how good the family’s cooking is. Only thing I dont like about this book is too many author’s portraits. I would rather them to be the portraits of the author demonstrating techniques or more photos of the food. For someone is new to Indian cooking, the images are what drive me to try it out the most. When I only see words, it’s really hard to relate.

Great addition to the kitchen
I love this cookbook! It’s very personal, with stories of the authors family making the different recipes for each page. Plenty of easy recipes that take under an hour, in addition to more complex ones if you’re up for a challenge. One thing I really like about it is that there are categories in addition to the usual sides, meat, vegetarian, etc. Theres categories such as midweek meals, first time recipes, and good meals for packed lunches. The only thing I wish this book had was pictures for each recipe. About half of the recipes have pictures, but I’m a very visual person and like to pick recipes based on their pictures. The pictures that are included are great though and the book itself looks great on the shelf.
