Description

The Monoprice Bluetooth Long Range Transmitter and Receiver allows you to turn any audio device into a Bluetooth enabled device. It uses a Bluetooth 5 connection and features the AAC, SBC, Qualcomm aptX, aptX HD, and aptX Low Latency audio codecs for crystal clear audio streaming and synchronized audio for video transmissions. This single adapter can be used as a receiver or a transmitter. When used as a receiver, you can pair it with your phone or other audio source and stream audio to an audio system that otherwise lacks a Bluetooth connection. When used as a transmitter, you can connect it to your audio system to stream audio to Bluetooth headphones or speakers. The Multipoint Connection feature allows you to transmit to two audio playback devices at the same time or to connect two audio source devices to allow for seamless switching between audio sources. It includes both analog 3.5mm and digital optical S/PDIF wired connections for greater flexibilty and higher quality audio. The built in rechargeable battery can deliver up to 25 hours of audio playback. LEDs indicate the operating mode, active audio codec, and the connected devices.

It works basically well. However, over time, the connection seems to get weaker and when it disconnects, it makes quite a loud pop which is unpleasant. It would be nice if it came with or had built into it a clip to hold onto clothing so it does not drop to the floor.

Works with Vintage Stereo

I bought this to use with a vintage stereo. Works well, I use the power from the back of the stereo for power, so when the unit is powered off so is the transmitter.

Good linkage

I have 2: I use this to send TV sound from the first as a transmitter to the other as a receiver and then use wired headphones. This let me watch TV very quietly at night without disturbing apartment neighbors or sleepers in the other room. 1 star dropped for the shorter cable length. Also, this would not work with a Monoprice SPDIF/optical cable splitter, which I was hoping to use to also feed TV sound to a soundbar.

Execllent value - well made with good audio quality

This is a well made piece of equipment with good audio quality. It served me well on 2 trans-atlantic flights thanks to it's long lasting internal battery. I've also used it successfully with my home audio equipment.

Cannot Leave Connected to Power Source While Transmitting

This is okay. It does what you expect it to do. Bluetooth pairing and using is fine. If I leave it connected to a power source while it's transmitting, there is a high pitch frequency that is constantly playing (with or without music). So I have to disconnect the power source while using it and remember to reconnect after using it. I don't even need the battery functionality, so this is an annoyance.

Excellent unit at an excellent price

Very easy to use. I paired it with both of my ipads, and it seamlessly switches to the one that is currently playing music. If I needed an additional unit, I would buy another one of these.

Perfect for making a subwoofer wireless

Bought two of these to make a subwoofer wireless - used one in transmitter mode connected to the TV's toslink port and other in receiver mode and connected to subwoofer via RCA and it works like a charm. Very impressed.

Monoprice Long Range Bluetooth transmitter

I have a Monoprice Premium Bluetooth 5 Transmitter/Receiver (Item 38071) and it works well, but I wanted a bit more range, so I purchased the Long Range version (Item 43243) when it was on sale. When using the Long Range version, the signal drops out at the same distance as the Premium Bluetooth 5 model, hence my review of only 3 stars, as it does not seem to provide any increase in range in my experience. In conclusion, as a Bluetooth transmitter, it works fine, but if you're hoping to get longer range, you will be disappointed.
