Q: Anyone know an effective way to remove this without ruining the toilet seat?

A: The lock can be removed by using a hair-dryer to soften the adhesive then using either dental floss or fishing line to run between the toilet and the adhesive to break the seal. Any remaining residue can be cleaned with warm sudsy water.

We've had these on one of our toilets for well over a year now! I just cleaned the surface with 91% alcohol on a paper towel, twice. My son (2.5) has not learned how to open ot, and I have to open it for all guests,because they get outsmarted by the decoy button! My dad even said "it's adult proof, too!". I'm thinking about getting another one for our upstairs bath, since my son is still obsessed with opening the toilet, and sometimes putting his hands in the water.

The adhesive on these stinks. The glue dries out very quickly. I’ve had one that worked for a month before falling off. But I just opened a brand new one and it won’t stick at all.

I followed directions. Cleaned with soap and water. Wiped. Cleaned with rubbing alcohol. Waited about 5 minutes and stuck the pieces on as directed. I did this after dinner and woke up to solidly glued pieces. They keep my 2 year old monster out of the toilet. I consider that a success.

We followed the instructions for installation, we even cleaned the toilet with alcohol, waited for it to dry and still my 18 month old daughter was able to remove them. I don't recommend it, I don't know if it's because of the humidity at the time or what, but it did NOT work for me.

The lock stayed on for about 2 months and then one day the latch part just fell off the side of the toilet. This happened with both toilets. The part that attaches to the toilet seat is still stuck there, 6 or so months later. I haven't tried removing it yet, but it's stuck on there really well that I'm afraid doing so will damage the seat. Overall I'm quite disappointed in this product (except for the 2 months that it worked).
