Q: Will this fit a 1inch drawer
submitted by Jess - 4 months ago
A: Thanks for providing the information requested! We have taken the liberty of providing the dynamics of the lock installation. Before you adhere the adhesive: Carefully align the front of primary panel with the front of the cabinet. Place the catch roughly 1 inch (2.5 cm) away from side of frame (close to door handle). If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact our Consumer Care team at 800-544-1108.

These open too wide that any child/ baby would likely pinch and squeeze their fingers in. Definitely not safe for baby proofing. 3 stars because it was easy to install and stayed on

I’m not paid like most of these reviews. Pros: - Adhesive is strong. We used the screw method. You can choose which method you use. - lock and unlock method (there is a con in this area) - took less than 2 mins per lock to put on. Cons: - The lock to unlock method is nearly impossible to change. You have to turn it to change and it is incredibly hard to turn it. I almost think something is wrong with it because even a grown dude is having a hard time turning it. I’ll have to keep it on the unlock feature.

They were super easy to install. The kids don't break them pulling too hard to try and open it or when we forget as adults we put them on there and pull a tad to hard. The kids can not get into anything anymore.

These safety latches came to me as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel, and I'm so glad that they did! They were super easy to install and they fit perfectly in our household.
My favorite aspect of these latches is that they work so well to keep my kids out of our kitchen cabinets. We've tried other brands, but they either didn't fit or our kiddos figured out how to open the cabinets. Our cleaning products are kept under our kitchen sink, so it's really important that my toddlers can't get into those cabinets. These safety latches are perfect for keeping them out and safe.

I spent a little over a month with my family recently. I have a total of 8 nieces & nephews. The youngest is 2. They all have a lot of cabinets & it can be dangerous. I wanted to try the Safety 1st Secure-to-Explore Adhesive locks on our parents cabinets. I noticed every time the kids were over they were always in the cabinets, but it isn't all good things for them to be into. The food cabinets had some heavy items in there as well. We installed the locks on the cabinets in the kitchen that caused the biggest concern. The area under the sink is where they keep the cleaning products. We installed one on the cabinet where Mt stepmom keeps the heavier containers for food storage. We placed the 3rd & 4th locks on their crafting cabinets because there is often different types of paint in them including spray paint.
I thought they worked great. The next time all the kids were over & tried to get into the cabinets, it was difficult. The older ones obviously figured it out quick, but the little ones were forced to ask for help. They didn't realize th3 peace of mind it would bring with installation. My stepmom & both sisters have bought more packs for their houses & they are loving them. One sister even took a couple packs to her church for the cabinets there. I would say these were a much needed item we didn't think about. Highly recommend.

I was really excited to try the Safety 1ˢᵗ Secure-to-Explore Adhesive Locks that i received from the Stellar Testing Panel because my husband was so sick of having to drill holes into everything just to baby proof. We put these on 2 drawers and 2 cabinet doors and let me tell you what, they are so easy to install it's crazy. You just place them where you want them, peel off the paper, and stick the adhesive to the door or drawer. The only down fall I saw was that they were a little bulky for the drawers if you're putting it on a smaller drawer.

"He can reach what now?" It didn't take long for my wife and I to realize that our 18-month-old son was reaching new heights in his exploring of our house; pulling everything that was within his little fingers reach onto the floor. Thankfully, we had the opportunity to test out the Safety 1ˢᵗ Secure-to-Explore Adhesive Locks.
The locks were intuitive right out of the box. The four locks were installed in literally minutes in our son's newest exploration area, our bathroom. We used the locks to secure the cabinet doors and drawers. We thought the intuitive nature of the locks (press down to unlock, or rotate to disable) would make daily use easy, and a quick supervised trial run showed how robust the adhesive was as our son unsuccessfully threw his entire 25 lbs. body against the drawer. Success.
In the coming weeks the intuitive nature of the locks was overshadowed by practical challenges. First was how hard we had to press to unlock the mechanism. It was difficult enough that we had trouble opening them with something in hand. Second was how hard it was to rotate the narrow plastic mechanism to disable the lock. Lastly was that everything still opened about two inches. This meant our toddlers hand could still fit in the locked drawers/doors. Because these were high-use drawers, these issues ensured we mostly left the locks disabled and never left him unsupervised in the bathroom.
Do they work? Absolutely. Are they practical in every situation? No. These locks are likely not practical for high-use areas or where a toddler could still reach in.
Before I would recommend them, I would want to think about where they could be used, and have a solid plan for them rather than just tossing them on any door/drawer. If you have a need to secure items where these functionally make sense, I would use them, but in general, I may look elsewhere.
Thank you to Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing our family the Safety 1ˢᵗ Secure-to-Explore Adhesive Locks for this review!

I enjoyed trying these Safety 1st Secure-to-Explore Child-Proofing Adhesive Locks. I was lucky to have received a set from Stellar Panel to try out at home for free.
The instructions were not very easy to follow at first, because they offer 2 methods of installation (90 degrees, which hangs down from the inside of the cabinet; and 0 degrees, which is used if your cabinet has no vertical lip to hang down from) and the pictures weren't super clear in determining which method I needed at first. After some troubleshooting, I was able to figure out I needed the 90 degree method, then installation was a breeze.
The Latches held tight, but because the arms are short, they can be hard to reach for larger hands once installed or if you have thick wood doors on your cabinets. They're made of a thick plastic material, which feels like it should hold up well over time. Pulling on the door when locked didn't cause any issues for these locks.
I love that the Locks can be set to 'unlocked' or 'locked', so I can unlock them once my toddler gets a little bigger for easier access, but I don't have to remove them any time soon.
Overall, a solid product and great option for child-proofing once past the installation steps.

I received this product through the Stellar Product Testing Panel.
I installed this in our bathroom under the sinks cabinet. We had already installed cabinet and drawer locks everywhere else when our oldest child was a toddler. I can confirm the Safety 1st Secure-To-Explore Adhesive Locks are as good if not better than the others I already had.
The installation was really simple and direct. You have multiple options depending on the style of cabinet or drawer you are installing in. There are even screws included if you need a little extra peace of mind. Personally, I think the adhesive is adequate for now. My toddler isn't strong enough to pull this apart at the moment.
The quality is good on these latches. It's a thick plastic that should hold up for a good while.
The best thing about these latches is their durability. They should hold up for as long as we have an adventurous toddler who gets into everything

I received a package of these locks from the Stellar Testing Panel, and I was interested to try them, because my toddler has recently figured out how to open our other cabinet locks. I've used a number of different cabinet and drawer locks over the years with young children in the house, some with a very similar design to these, but these did seem to have some new features.
They look pretty cool, and it says the adhesive is 2X stronger, which could be useful, but for me, I haven't had trouble with the "hook" side coming off, it's always been the "catch" side that was a problem, meaning I just used screws anyways. There's also the "Locked" and "Unlocked" feature, which is pretty cool, you just twist the latching mechanism 180 to set it. This could be useful once we get to the point that we don't need to lock certain cabinets, but I'd just as soon remove them if we don't need them.
Due to the way my drawers and cabinets are made, and the size of the "catch" piece, that side of the lock has to be set back 1/4 to 1/2 inch, which doesn't give it enough space to really adhere to the < 1 inch thick wood of my drawer or cabinet opening. Even if the adhesive is stronger - I still have to use screws to hold it on, and about half of it is unsupported by the wood of my cabinet. I imagine that if I could just use the adhesive, these would have been pretty easy to install.
These seem to have solid construction and look nice. They work reasonably well as designed, but my toddler did figure out how to open them relatively quickly. The hook type part on the latch gave a little trouble, but he figured it out before long.
I think the idea is great, being able to set them as "Locked" and "Unlocked' is nice, and they appear to be of good quality. I can attest to the strength of the adhesive, as I mis-installed the first one I tried and had to pry it off, which was pretty difficult. Overall, unfortunately, they didn't actually stop my toddler from opening the cabinets.

Upon receiving the child safety locks, I noticed the packaging was a bit tattered. Thankfully, there was no damage to the product itself. Everything inside was secure and included everything I needed for a quick installation. I was able to install 2 of the 4 cabinet locks in less than 7 minutes of opening the package for the first time. I'm confident I could have installed the remaining two, as well, in less than 10 minutes altogether. There are easy to read diagrams on the side of the box that were clear and straight forward. I decided to use the contact strips that were already applied to the lock instead of screwing into my cabinets and so far it has been very durable and has been able to weather the storm of my cabinet slamming toddler. I LOVE that I can simply turn the locking component upside down to keep it unlocked, as needed. These locks happen to be placed in my bathroom where my cleaning supplies are kept, so it's nice that when I'm accessing the cabinet frequently for products I can momentarily disable the lock. I prefer this mechanism over the magnets that are sometimes used in other cabinet locks. I don't have to worry about keeping up with the magnet without compromising safety.
I'd like to thank the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me these locks in exchange for my honest review.

Overall these safety latches are a good quality safety latch that are easy to install and easy to use. They work great for for cabinet doors like those under the kitchen sink or in the bathroom. I like thar you can turn the locking pin to disengage the locks when not needed. My wife and I frequently use this at night after our kids are sleeping.
The biggest negative is these safety latches did not fit on the drawers in our kitchen, which was one of the main areas we need them. We were able to install them without any issues; however, after installation we couldn't close our drawers all the way. The locks left about a half inch gap from being able to close all the way.
We love the latches for our cabinet doors, but unfortunately we'll need to fund another solution for our drawers.
Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this baby proofing item.

I love the design of these locks that we received to test out as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel! No more guessing if both parts will line up after install. With these locks, both pieces connect together which allows you to just shut the door after installing the first latch inside the cabinet to get the perfect mount. The only downside is with inset cabinet doors as they require a bit more effort to make the lock work. However, this is the only lock that I have gotten to work on this cabinet so it was worth the time.
Quality Lock to Keep Toddlers Away

The Safety 1st Secure to Explore Adhesive Locks are a quality choice with the caveat that they work with specific types of drawers and cabinets. I was given this baby proofing item to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. The instruction manual / installation directions looked intimidating at first, but it was easy to measure and install the safety latch. I didn't need any tools unless I wanted to use the optional screws. Unfortunately the safety latches did not work with some of my cabinets and drawers, because the latch panel needs to stick completely to a flat surface, and some of my cabinet doors had an interior raised surface that didn't have enough space to accommodate the whole latch panel. I didn't see anything on the outside of the packaging to note the requirement, so that could be frustrating to buy and find out the hard way. I felt that the adhesive and construction were strong enough to withstand my curious toddler, and the drawer opened enough for me to easily push down the latch to open the drawer. I really liked the option to set the latch to an unlocked position for those times you need frequent access.

These latches were a breeze to install and use. The directions were clear and easy to understand, and I had my drawers and cabinets protected within minutes of opening the package.
The latches seem sturdy and well made, and I expect them to last well past the age of my toddlers need to be kept out of the cabinets.
One feature I particularly appreciate is that these locks don't need an extra piece or magnet to unlock them. As a busy adult, being able to access my cabinets quickly when needed, and one handed if necessary, was a huge incentive to use these locks. I received these locks from the Stellar Product Testing Panel, and am planning on installing them on every openable drawer in our house.

The Safety 1ˢᵗ Secure-to-Explore Adhesive Locks are a good way to ensure that your little ones can't access what you don't want them to access. These safety locks are high-quality and easy to install - they come pre-assembled and with adhesive strips already attached and ready to go. Installation is a snap; just remove the adhesive backing from the cabinet side, attach it where you want it, remove the backing from the door side, close the door and you're golden.
These are "classic" style safety locks, with a lever latch style closure that you have to push down on to open. The heavy-duty plastic used in these locks is a bit difficult to press down on hard enough to unlock, depending on the depth of the cabinet you're installing them on. This does mean that it can be difficult to open even for an adult, which may be frustrating. My biggest piece of advice for opening cabinets with these locks installed is to press as close to the latch as possible (i.e., as far away from the door as possible) to get better leverage.
One nice feature of these locks is the turn-to-lock/unlock feature. If you need a cabinet to stay unlocked for a while for whatever reason (say for example, you're baking in the kitchen and don't want to have to unlock your glassware cabinet dozens of times throughout the bake) you can simply turn the latch 180 degrees to the unlocked position (green lock icon facing upwards) so that the latch can't catch on the closure. This is not a feature I've seen in other latch-style cabinet locks and is definitely a big plus.
Overall, while I still prefer magnet-style cabinet locks for their ease of use and invisibility, the Safety 1ˢᵗ Secure-to-Explore Adhesive Locks come in a close second and I would definitely consider purchasing more of these latches if I needed a non-magnetic solution for babyproofing.
Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with these safety locks to test!

These Safety 1st latches are extremely sturdy once applied. Application was a bit difficult, they do not work on doors/drawers that have bumpers and do not sit flush and are not easily repositionable even in the first few seconds after applying. Once secured, it takes some effort to unlatch so little ones will not easily be able to defeat. I like that there are easy visuals as to whether the lock is engaged or not, and you can easily change the setting to not engage when not needed for a while. Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this baby-proofing item.

I received this baby proofing item from the Stellar Product Testing Panel. Good locks. The sticky tape on the locks is enough to stop a child from opening a drawer or door. If you have a child, they might try to open the door from underneath. But the kit comes with screws which makes it harder to open. Surfaces must be cleaned before installing the locks, but other than that, great product. Keeps the kids out. Easy to open, just push down when drawer/door is slightly open.

I received this baby proofing item from the Stellar Product Testing Panel . All things baby or toddler proofing can be intimidating so I went in with some healthy skepticism that this would be easy or doable. I pulled out the locks the first time and knew I needed to set aside dedicated time to sit with the instructions and test out locations a few times before I pulled off the adhesive. In general, the instructions are fairly easy to follow but I did have to double check I was looking at the cabinet or drawer option when I would moved between steps because they are right next to each other. Unfortunately this latch wasn't a great match for my kitchen where I primarily need the support. I tried these on 2 different drawers and 2 cabinets but the placement of the latches would not work great pretty much in each situation. Under the sink there was no space between the basin and the cabin to allow for the extended lock. The junk drawer structure on the handle side has a lip so it isn't in the right place for me to use the entire adhesive. It's so darn strong I was able to set the lock anyway but it's way too shallow in my drawer to unlock it! I tried and had two other adults try too so we had to just get the adhesive off. So yes, I think technically works really well for toddler proofing and seems strong but it doesn't appear it's universal for cabinets and drawers. I plan to try this in my sons room next on a different model of drawer.
