Safety 1st Secure-to-Explore Adhesive Locks - White - 12pk

This is a horrible product. Instructions say 4 easy steps to install. That’s a joke. Adhesive doesn’t hold, if you have to pull off to realign, it’s no longer tacky, the screws stripped the nail bit to the drill. Once installed, the door/drawer won’t close flush. You have to install so it’s sticking out if you want to be able to reach the push button to open it.

These are terribly engineered. My framed drawers are shallow, when installed they don’t fully close and jut out into the kitchen a good inch. Fine whatever, well the bottom drawer is much deeper. It fully recedes normally. Problem is you can’t fit your finger to unlock the lock because the drawer above is sticking out an inch and the latches are too short so now I have zero access to my bottom drawers. Awful engineering

I wanted to like these. The design is great in theory but the tab is not long enough for our cabinet design. Any amount of drawer overhang or cabinets above it won’t work. My husband can’t even fit his fingers in the space to unlatch. I myself have very small hands and fingers and it’s hard for me. We installed following directions. Must not be good for our style cabinets? The video shows it opening up as much as possible. It should be placed 2 inches inside (not 1 inch like directions say). But then my baby could get her arm in. It’s a great product in theory but unfortunately doesn’t work. Sad I wasted money on these.

I have mixed feelings about these. I LOVE the idea of them. You don't have to ruin your cabinets by putting screws in to them. They are hidden. You don't need to keep track of a magnet. But man they do not hold up. I bought a box in June of 2025. Bought another box in July 2025 and I'm looking in to another saftey lock now (May 2026). The second box has held up longer than the first. So take that as you will. I followed the instructions to the T both times. I've had to replce the lock either because the plastic broke or the stickiness wore off. So it's just annoying because they aren't super cheap and I expected them to get me through this stage of life. So anyway. I think implementation needs work. The idea is amazing though.

I purshased the 8 pack thinking I would have 8 full locks to cover all my cabinets. When I got home I opened the package to install them and there is only 4 full locks? Each lock has two peices so there are 8 peices in the packege. They do seem sturdy but was extreemly dissappointed to pay $21 for only 4 cabinets to be covered.

I would suggest something else. We liked these a lot at first. The instal was easy, adhesive was strong, tricky for a pre toddler to figure out. After a few weeks or some of them were starting to fall off the adhesive. I didn’t think much of it because I took the easy route and didn’t drill in. Then I drilled the in and that was no problem, if you lined them up just right. Then a couple of weeks after that all of the long parts of the lock started snapping off and there is just no way to fix that. So I would not recommend them for frequent long term use. Maybe for cabinets that do not get used very often, or maybe grandparents/ caregivers homes. Definitely not for frequent flyers like junk drawers, utensils, pantry, plates, etc.

These Safety 1st Adhesive Baby Locks are awesome! They stick really well, and I didn’t need any tools to put them on—just peeled and stuck. My 10 month old hasn’t been able to open the cabinets since, which is a huge relief. They’re easy for me to open but tricky for little ones Definitely a must-have for baby-proofing without any fuss!

We loved these until we didn’t. The locks were exactly what I was looking for as a “renter friendly” lock for our cabinets without handles. They did the job for a while but eventually multiple were breaking. After they broke I decided to remove them. The adhesive is IMPOSSIBLE to remove. We’ve tried a hair dryer, putty knife and goo gone. The adhesive ruined cabinets that aren’t even ours. Who knows how much this will cost us.

They were super easy to install and worked well for about 3 weeks but the sticky backs on both the latch and anchor have worn off very quickly on probably half and some have come off completely. I’ve had several fail while the cabinet door is closed resulting in me being unable to get the door open at all and it takes 5 minutes of jiggling/jerking to get the door open enough to brake the latch. If I could get my money back on the two boxes I bought I would do it in a heartbeat. Worst baby purchase I’ve ever made.

The tab broke off easily - wish we had invested in the magnetic locks from the start. 18 month old was easily able to break the lock, posing a choking hazard.

Easy to install. Liked while it worked. We installed these 2 months ago when my child turned 5 months to start getting us used to having them. It just broke last week, and another is about to. After only TWO MONTHS.

My husband and I tried to understand these confusing instructions and gave up. This should not be difficult to understand! Will be returning.

Not very durable. I've had these installed for 3 or 4 months and about 2 weeks ago one of the hook parts broke off when my husband bumped into it. I figured it was because he hit it pretty hard. Well then tonight another one broke in the same way when I was simply opening a cabinet. It is probably one of the cabinet we open most, but still it should last longer than 3 or 4 months. Luckily I have a couple extras but I'd be pretty annoyed if I had to go out and buy a new package to replace it. I wish I could use a different style on these cabinets but some of the others only work on my drawers. I will say I do like the design of the other piece and the additional sticky piece that helps it be more secure when little ones are trying to open the cabinets.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have an 18 month toddler whose current favorite pass time is getting into all of our cabinets and drawers. We are currently living with my in-laws and they wanted to have babyproofing locks that were semipermanent and hidden. These are the perfect locks for our situation but unfortunately, they did not work with any of my in-laws cabinets. As you can see from the photo, there is a short groove on the cabinet door and the frame of the actual cabinets have a 3/4 inch rail. This makes it so that the door is unable to close all the way with these adhesive locks. The instructions were easy to follow, but unfortunately, they do not work with our current cabinets. I will say that they are an excellent product and the adhesives are very strong and sticky. We will save them for our future house as they are exactly what my wife was looking for originally. We are disappointed they didn't work with our in-law's cabinets, but would recommend them to others and look forward to using them in our future kitchen. Not only does the adhesive seem a lot stronger, but the latch is more secure than any others we have tried, while still being easy for adults. These were easy to install on our vanity cabinets (no drilling/holes!) and maintain our aesthetic thanks to the hidden design. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was looking for a simple way to keep my 3 year old and 10 month old out of our medicine cabinet, which is currently easily accessible to both of them. It’s in the bottom cupboard of a standalone bathroom tower, so it’s been hard to find a secure way to keep it locked. I received these locks as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel and was excited to give them a try. Sadly, I tried and failed multiple times to install this lock. The directions were confusing and there was no clear explanation of how they actually work. I asked my husband to take a look, and after a few minutes of trying to decipher the instructions, he also grew frustrated and gave up. I’m sure these locks will work for someone with a bit more patience, but we abandoned this project for now.

As my little ones have become more mobile and inquisitive I was eager to try these locks on my kitchen cabinets. Overall, the installation seemed a bit daunting- but in reality the locks were very easy to apply. Unfortunately the functionality of these particular locks do not work on the type of cabinet I most needed them for. That said, I love how invisible the locks are- as someone who values the aesthetics in my home. These are definitely a great choice if keeping your home looking sleek and clean is a priority to you as there are likely other more convenient or easier locks systems out there that just don't look as nice. It's also a great perk that these locks can be used either with cabinets or drawers! I look forward to trying them in other areas of my home.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a mom of 6, I have baby proofed my home a number of times. My current youngest is 10 months and quite mobile so we're back to this stage again. When I saw these Secure-to-Explore adhesive locks from Safety 1st I knew I needed them, especially because they looked super easy to install. I love that they come already put together so you don't have to worry about aligning the ledge with the lock (I hope that makes sense). I think for normal cabinets it would minimize the measurement process which is great. Unfortunately, my cabinets are framed a bit on the doors, so the way it is set up doesn't quite work. It leads to the latch portion of the lock hanging half over the top of the frame, thus preventing my cabinet door from closing. I've used lots of other saftey latches with no issues, so I think it's just that these don't quite work with my cabinets. However, I did use these with my bathroom drawers (no frames here!) and they worked flawlessly. It was easy to set them up and make them stick. If I ever need to unstick them a blow dryer will loosen the adhesive and ita a simple removal. All in all, while these didn't work where I wanted to use them, they did work elsewhere. If you have framed doors, these are not the ones for you. If you have normal doors or drawers these are easy easy! They were easy to install and secured the cabinets with ease. The way the locks were designed made it so you barely noticed they were on the cabinets. They also kept kitchen products that are under the sink safely secured away from my crawling daughter who is very curious at this age. It’s a plus that the locks are white and ended up matching the cabinets in my home. I would highly recommend these locks !
