A: Thanks for asking! We recommend filling the main dispenser cup according to machine directions. For very hard water we recommend using Seventh Generation Rinse Aid - we hope this helps.

Q: Is there plastic in the packaging for this item?

A: Thanks for asking for our Free & Clear Auto Dishwasher Detergent Powder. Unfortunately, our cardboard box packaging for our dishwasher powdered detergents is not recyclable. The box is coated with a plastic layer which is necessary on all powdered detergent and serves as a moisture barrier to protect the powder from humidity and moisture, which can ruin the detergent. This coating used to be on the interior of the dish detergent box, so you may not have noticed it before. Having this coating on the exterior of the packaging helps to protect the box. We're actively looking to develop a better, biodegradable humidity coating and hope to have it nailed down soon! We hope this helps!

A: Thanks for reaching out about our Free + Clear Auto Dishwasher Detergent! Based on volume of product and that standard dishwasher detergent compartments hold 1 oz. of detergent, will handle 45 loads. Actual loads handled can vary, based on size of load and amount of detergent used, based on how heavily soiled dishes are. We hope this helps!

This is soooo good. I can put a fraction of what I was using with Cascade, and it cleans great. If you are having white film or residue, try using way less. Like 1/4 of what you are used to and splash a little in the pre wash. The unscented is also such a game changer. Spatulas and silicone parts no longer absorbing the smell of the soap.

Did not clean effectively. Left horrible film on dishes, especially glass. AND I used a rinse aid. Have never had this problem with other detergents, liquid or powder form.

This detergent doesn’t smell like a bunch of chemicals, like other name brand powder detergents do! It also leaves my ceramic bowls scratch-free! You know those marks that some detergents leave in your bowls that look like someone drew all over them with a pencil? This removes those marks after several washes! Please, please don’t discontinue!!

I've tried using other "clean" dishwasher detergent that left residue on my dishes and my dishwasher but seventh generation never does. What i love about the powder is that it's way cheaper, doesn't have any plastic, and lasts longer. This is my new go to from the tabs!

Unscented detergent is so nice for all my toddlers silicone dishes. They don’t make the food taste like soap anymore! This box is great value for the amount you are getting. Only qualm is that it leaks a little bit of fine powder when you set it down. Easy to clean though.

I was skeptical based on the other reviews but this works as well as the most expensive Cascade pods. And we have a cheap apartment dishwasher and don’t rinse super well. We do use a rinse aid, and also have very soft water.

Do NOT buy this!!!! I ran out of my regular Truly Free dishwasher detergent and purchased this in a pinch. I should’ve read the reviews more thoroughly but target doesn’t have a lot of “cleaner” options for this type of product so I went with it. Well I totally regret it, 3/4 of my dishes are still dirty (and I pre-rinse pretty well) when I empty the dishwasher and it’s infuriating!!! Total waste of time, just don’t do it.

Hubby disliked other detergents because he can taste the fragrance of them clean dishes. I started out being impressed with this one but I’ve noticed on full loads that there is a visible film left on glasses and utensils, and that I can taste a saltiness on the rim of mugs and glasses. We have a newer model Bosch that has done well with other detergents. I’m disappointed with Seventh Generation, though I like that it is unscented. Back to the drawing board with finding the perfect dishwasher detergent.
