Q: Is this a constant steam while you clean or do you have to push like the precious one?
A: The Shark S3501 Steam Pocket Mop does not produce constant steam automatically. Instead, it uses a manual steam activation system, meaning you have to pump the handle back and forth while mopping to release steam. This design gives you control over how much steam is released, but it can feel tiring during longer cleaning sessions.

Q: Could you add white vinegar to decalcify the mop to prevent calcium buildup
A: No, we do not recommend adding white vinegar or any other substance to the tank. Only water should be used, as other liquids can damage the unit.

Q: Does it pick up old stains
A: Steam mops are great for loosening dirt and grime, but results can vary with older or set-in stains. While the heat and moisture from steam can help break down tough spots, deeply embedded stains may require multiple passes or pre-treatment for best results.

Q: What if I want to steam my whole floor? Would this accommodate that?
A: Yes, it would. However, if the unit ever overheats, we recommend allowing it to cool for 2–3 minutes before resuming use.

Q: Where can I find the serial number?
A: You can find the serial number for the Shark S3501 on a white sticker located on the back of the unit near the cord or on the bottom of the mop head. It’s usually labeled as “Model” and “Serial.”

Q: What do you consider to be aa "hard" floor? I have a vinyl that is semi soft/firm. And should I avoid ANY seams in the vinyl? If so then it's useless to me.
A: The Steam Pocket Mop works on most hard floors, but we recommend testing a small area first and reviewing your floor manufacturer’s care instructions. Avoid using it on wax-polished furniture or floors, unsealed or unglazed ceramic, unsealed wood, wax floors, and some no-wax floors, as heat or steam may remove the sheen. Always test an isolated spot before cleaning the entire surface.

Q: Can the steam Pocket mop be used on laminate flooring
A: Yes, the Shark S3501 Steam Pocket Mop can be used on laminate flooring, but use it carefully. Keep the mop moving and use the lowest steam setting to avoid moisture damage.

Q: Can I get an instruction manual? I inherited this mop and am unsure if I am using it correctly.
A: To download the instruction manual for your Shark S3501 Steam Pocket Mop, simply open your web browser and go to the Shark Clean website. In the search bar, type “S3501 manual” and look for the result labeled something like “S3501 Series Owner’s Guide” or “Instruction Manual.” Click on that result to open the PDF file. Once it opens in your browser, look for a download icon usually a downward arrow in the top-right corner, click it, choose where you want to save the file on your device, and confirm the download. You can then open the manual anytime using a PDF reader or your browser.
