Our new African Black Soap, Calm & Clearing Bar soap is designed specifically for melanin-rich skin. Infused with African Black Soap, Oats, Aloe, & Vitamin E, this bar soap gently cleanses and helps balance dry, troubled skin, leaving it feeling calm, smooth, and visibly moisturized for 24 hours. Our moisturizing Bar soap is formulated with fair trade Shea Butter. Through our proprietary Shea Emulsion technology, we were able to break down Shea Butter into thousands of droplets that provide even, smooth coverage across the skin. This bar soap is 92% naturally derived and free from sulfates, parabens, phthalates, mineral oil, and petrolatum. For best results, use this bar soap in combination with other products from SheaMoisture's African Black Soap Collection.

The packaging isn’t unusual for bar soap and the scent is good. It isn’t overwhelming and it isn’t messy despite the color. I like using it in conjunction with the liquid soap.

When wet, pure black soap suds were black and these were gray. It was kind of weird. It was kind of drying as well. It really didn't care for this version of black soap.

You can feel the texture of the oats in the bar. It makes skin feel soft and squeaky clean. I love that it's paraben free and sulfate free. It doesn't dry out my skin.

Burned in spot where my skin was broken. Itchy not long after apply, especially after I shaved my legs. My skin was tight and very dry after :(

So, I was excited to try a product that I trust and I know is naturally derived. This soap has been helpful since I came back from a beach trip (ie: skin being drier than usual). It does not really have a scent. I received this product in exchange for my honest opinions.

This used to be the version with shea butter instead of “natural moisturizers”. I bought it based on my previous purchases and it ended up being a different product. I’m really disappointed there is no shea butter option anymore and I’m confused as to why there are two different listings and prices for the same exact product. It used to be that the shea butter version was $6.29 and the natural moisturizers version was $5.99, but now there is only the natural moisturizers option for either $6.29 or $5.99

The soap does get very foamy and smells amazing, it gives off a very squeaky clean feel on my skin that I’m not a fan of. It also turned my white wash cloth gray 😭! Note to anyone using this: don’t use white wash cloths. Other than that, the product does work well.
