Q: What is the difference in the S1 and S2 besides price?

submitted by asmith - 6 years ago
  • A: S1 has a built in rechargeable battery.

submitted byMercedes - 6 years ago
  • A: The S1 is rechargeable and the S2 needs to be plugged in.

submitted byCR - 6 years ago
  • A: Both are hospital grade. S1 is rechargeable (can operate on battery or plugged in). S2 must be plugged in.

submitted byawood - 6 years ago
  • A: What’s it come with ?

submitted byAli - 2 months ago
  • A: Basically just portability. The S1 is blue, and has a rechargeable battery the can last up to three hours without being plugged in - easier for moms needing to pump on the go, or even just at home (you don't have to mess with an outlet, you can just start pumping). The S1 is blue and the S2 is pink. The S2 does not have a rechargeable battery of any kind.

submitted byhannahk - 6 years ago
  • A: The S1 is a rechargeable battery meaning you can take it and use it anywhere. The S2 is the same pump, but it only plugs into electric, which limits its use. I used the battery operated one and found out was helpful to be able to use it in the car or wherever I needed, versus being tied to an outlet to use it. It’s light, so you can pick it up and move with it, if necessary.

submitted byDeewy - 6 years ago
  • A: It has a built-in rechargeable battery, making it portable, which the S2 does not have in functionality.

submitted bysj - 6 years ago

Q: I see this is "hospital strength" but is it "hospital grade"? My insurance doesn't cover hospital grade, so I want to make sure it is a different desination than hospital strength.

submitted by Newmom - 2 years ago
  • A: Hi Newmom. All of our electric breast pumps have hospital strength suction capabilities. The S1 Plus and S2 Plus are widely accepted by insurance companies nationwide. The S1 Plus pump is similar to the S2 Plus in terms of power. The only difference is the rechargeable battery being in the S1. If your insurance company provides the S2 Plus as a covered pump, you may have to specifically request an S1. We have an insurance lookup tool on our website you can use to search different payers and see what pump options are available in your state. Thank you for reaching out.

  • A: While the Spectra may have great suction, it is not designed to be used in a hospital setting by 150 women per year. Watch out for marketing words. Hospital 'strength' is not the same as multi-user.

Q: When you say Spectra S1 has a double and single pump does that mean you can pump both breasts at the same time, correct?

submitted by Elara - 2 years ago
  • A: Hi Elara. Yes, you can pump both breasts at the same time. When you want to only pump one breast, make sure you cover the tubing inlet at the base of the pump with the air cap. Happy Pumping!

Q: Does the unit come with the rechargeable battery or is that sold separately?

submitted by Kaira - 5 years ago
  • A: Hi Kaira! The S1 Plus pump model has a rechargeable battery that is built-in. It cannot be removed. If for some reason the pump is not working or the battery isn't charging correctly, please call our customer care department and we'll fully replace the entire pump.

Q: Will this breast pump work for Philips Avent bottles?

submitted by Autumn - 5 years ago

Q: Are there milk storage bags that are compatible or recommended to go with this pump? I'm a first time mom, I'm a little unsure about the best method from pump to storage.

submitted by KelseyJ - 5 years ago
  • A: Hello! Spectra offers breastmilk storage bags for use with all pumps. When choosing a storage bag, be certain it is BPA free, has a leak tight seal, and is designed for breastmilk storage. Always follow published recommendations for breastmilk storage, thawing, and reheating.

submitted bySpectra Product Expert - 4 years ago
    Brand expert
  • A: The Kindee storage bags are compatible with this pump using an adapter (included in the Kindee breastfeeding kit or sold separately). The breastfeeding kit also includes nipples and "bottles" that attach to the storage bags, which eliminates the need for transferring milk and the use of actual bottles that you would need to wash. Way less work. It's my first pregnancy, and I am doing as much research as I can to take advantage of anything that is out there that will make our experience smoother! We received our Kindee breastfeeding kit today, and I am eager to test it!

submitted byCarla - 5 years ago

Q: I am also wondering what bottles are compatible with this breast pump or what sorts of adapters are needed to be purchased? Several questions on this topic here - PLEASE RESPOND!

submitted by Stephanie - 6 years ago
  • A: I use the Phillip Avent Natural bottles and they are compatible. Not sure about any other brands.

submitted byHeather - 5 years ago
  • A: Hi Stephanie. This is a great question. bottles are designed and tested for use with Spectra pumps. We do not recommend their use with other manufacturer's products as we cannot guarantee maximum performance and efficiency. Although we do have a Small Bottle Cap Adapter you can purchase which will fit any standard narrow neck milk bottle and fit a Spectra flange on top. Please reach out to our customer care team if you have any issues. We appreciate your question.

Q: why is this pump only $24.99 was it recalled, discontinued or just cheap?

submitted by MamaBam - 6 years ago
  • A: That was probably the price of the warranty. :)

submitted byrebnineveh - 5 years ago
  • A: It's very likely a typo. This is a $200 pump! If I could order it for $24.99 I would!

    Stops Mid Pump

    MRem01 - 10 days ago, Verified purchaser
Just stops in the middle of pumping. And most the time, after it stops, it takes 4-5 attempts to get it working again. Super frustrating when trying to pump before the baby wakes or during my break time at work. Not efficient and ends up taking way more time than it should. Go for another brand. I didnt listen to the reviews about it stopping and I wish I had!

I got this after the Medela pump I used 7 years ago was replaced with a new model that was not comparable. Pros - more comfortable than the Medela (the Medela literally hurt to the point I didn’t want to pump anymore). I like the night light option and the rechargeable battery is very convenient. I like that it came with two flange sizes because the 24 mm is too small and 28 is better for me. Cons - I’m not getting any better output with this one. My old Medela from 7 years ago I was pumping 8-10+ oz every 3 hours so I know I should be making a decent amount. I’m lucky to get 2-3 oz in 20-30 min from this. I double checked all the parts were snug. It’s a weak feeling pull. It takes forever to get a let down and I feel like it barely lets down. I need a stronger and faster option like the hospital grade pump. Not sure if it’s defective because I have nothing to compare it to.

I purchased this pump in April on a recommendation from a lactation consultant out of pocket from Target as the one insurance provided to me wouldn’t pump me out. The package appeared to be sealed. Unbeknownst to me the WRONG CHARGING CABLE was inside of the box. When I contacted spectra because the pump wouldn’t charge I was told that I was using the wrong charger. When I responded that this is what came with the pump I was told that I had misplaced the charger and would need to purchase a new pump because not using the spectra charger damaged the pump. I explained that the charger I was using was the one out of the box but the service rep repeated that I had probably misplaced the charger, clearly not listening to me that this was the only charger I had ever received with the pump and that I didn’t know it was “wrong.” I was offered no help for an error I didn’t even know existed. Instead I was advised to purchase a new pump because there was nothing that they could do for me as I was the one using the wrong charger. My insurance will not cover this pump and to have it only last 6 months when it was purchased from a certified vendor Target when it cost $200 is unacceptable. I would not recommend this pump as customer support is nonexistent.

Came with broken vacuum piece, only one side of the pump works. Went back next day to return it and they said cant return it and they didn’t even allow me to EXCHANGE for the same one! Now stuck with $200 brand new pump that only one side works. Went to one target for exchange said it was out of stock and to go to different location then the second location said to leave that they cant do anything and to figure it out and buy parts from the manufacturer

As a full time employed 2nd time mom who has solely breastfed, I painfully went through almost all the brands of breast pumps out there before I found the SpectraS1. Pictured is a 20min pump with my SpectraS1. It's the most milk I have ever extracted with any pump in such a short amount of time. Pumping is so painless and yields so much milk that for the first time, I actually look forward to Pumping. I love this pump! The only thing I would say though is that you make sure you have the right size flange. Take the time to measure your nipple and if the standard 24mm that come with the pump don't work for you, go on Amazon and order your size from their store. This pump will change your life!

I had the Medela, and it hurt. I got the spectra, and the different settings, the flange shape, and the fact that you can do one at a time is amazing. My favorite thing is light, when I am pumping at 3 am it helps so I dont spill my milk or trip.

I got a Willow Go. The portability and discrete aspect were big selling points for me. And in those aspects it is still great, but a week and a half into pumping my supply decreased. So I tried the Spectra 1 and I got more milk on the first use than I ever got before with the Willow Go

I have never wrote a review for anything in my life. With my first, breastfeeding just did not work. I knew with my second I was going to my to have to really work at it. I bought this and (you have to read the pamphlet and research the settings) I followed the book and pumped every 2 hours for 15 minutes. Only during the day because I was too exhausted at night to give a f. After 48 hours of doing that, I was pumping 5 ounce bottles. For someone who couldn’t even get a full ounce 3 days ago, I started jumping up and down in my kitchen and dancing. Buy it. Don’t think twice

I went from pumping one drop on day 1 to pumping 8oz on day 15. I have been using this pump from day 4, and it efficiently empties the girls each time. I like that I can quietly pump in the car, at the park, during Dr appointments, at work, etc without worrying about plugging it. It pumps one or both breasts pretty well. It’s a little heavy to carry around but it’s worth it for me and my little one.

I am a mom of 6 I have used this pump for with my last two babies and it is simply the best there is! I’ve used other pumps that were okay but this is the Cadillac of all breast pumps, I have always struggled to produce enough breast milk before I had this pump. It is so strong and the flanges and set up are super comfortable for me. I highly recommend getting a pumping bra because then this pump is mostly hands free, I pump while driving, working, everything..don’t waste your money on a “hands free” pump I promise it won’t work as well as this and you’ll be frustrated and wasting precious time.

I ended up switching to exclusively pumping and the insurance pump that I was issued was not sufficient to keep my supply up. I had been renting a hospital pump but the cost of that was starting to build up. I did a lot of research and the spectra pumps were well reviewed. I totally agree that this pump is wonderful. I get the same amount if not more from the hospital rental. Bonus points for being cordless and rechargable. The parts are also easy to clean and come apart easily. Definitely recommend for a solid pump!

Product randomly stopped responding to power and died on me completely. Spectra Customer service refuse to help me because I don't have a receipt, as this was a gift in 2022. The product is still in warranty but they are refusing to help me with any repairs or replacement. It makes me very sad because I don't have the means to purchase another pump. This one was very expensive in the first place and I was very blessed to be gifted it. But for such an expensive product, why does the quality not meet the criteria? I will not be using anymore spectra products from this day forward. It's just not right that I can't even have it sent in for a repair?

This pump is amazing. 10/10 recommend. I am on my second baby and I wouldn’t use another pump. I have used elvie stride, momcozy, and evenflo and nothing compares. I understand the draw to the other pumps but my supply is stable from this pump. I personally needed a pump that had a strong suction and was able to fully empty me which this is the only pump that personally did it for me. Defiantly helped with clogged ducts as well.
