The S1 PLUS Hospital Strength Double Electric Breast Pump with inbuilt RECHARGEABLE BATTERY provides all the features of the S2, with the addition of an inbuilt rechargeable battery. This means that you are now able to benefit from the efficiency, power and performance of a hospital strength breast pump, without compromising on portability. Like all Spectra pumps, the S1 is a closed system - a physical barrier between the milk and the pump ensures hygiene and motor performance. With a maximum suction strength of 250mmHg and the ability to be used as a single or double pump, plus a host of additional features, the S1 is set to become the ultimate breast pump to support U.S. moms. The S1's completely flexible, touch button, with the S1 pump's digital controls allow you to set the pumping program to the speed and rhythm most effective for your body. The suction is adjustable in both let-down and expression mode. This quiet pump also includes a timer and night light.
This is the second Spectra S1 that I’ve purchased. I bought this for my wife so that she can have at work as well as at home. She really loves the the brand of pump. It’s quiet & it doesn’t hurt her nipples like I’ve heard some other brands can.
After the birth of my baby I was renting the medela symphony because that's what I knew from when I had my twins. I loved that pump! I was going to buy one but I couldn't find anyone who would sell a new one. They just rent them. So I tried the medela pump in style. HATED IT. It quit pumping after the first couple uses. I have a friend who let me try her spectra. It took some getting used to since I was so used to the symphony. I was positive I wasnt going to find a pump as good as the symphony. Nothing was going to empty out the breasts like that one. Or so I thought. But let me tell you! The Spectra is wonderful! I love how I can take it anywhere I go and pump in the car without being plugged up. I have loved this pump since I bought it, and altho we are done having babies, I would buy this one again in an instant.
I’ve used both the Medela pumps and S1 and I prefer the Spectra pump. Pros: portable, chargeable, timer on machine with light, baby likes spectra bottle and nipples, much more comfortable than Medela. Cons: spectra parts are harder to find (not in stores have to order online), Medela more compatible with other brands.
what a great rechargeable pump! It's so nice to not have to be plugged in while using this. I love that I can program in the settings that work best for me and see exactly how I'm pumping and for how long on the digital screen. It's also easy to clean and quick to put together/take apart for pumping then cleaning. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of the size/shape. It's definitely not the easiest design to transport around
If you’re deciding between the S1 and S2, get the S1!! Worth the extra cash if you can afford it. It’s a great pump overall too, not loud at all, I pump in the middle of the night without waking my husband.
The only downsides: kinda pricy, and the duckbills/ other parts have to be replaced routinely but ima sure that is the same with any breast pump. Also not compatible with Dr browns bottles :( but it is compatible with Avent bottles. Not a big deal if you don’t mind losing a few drops of milk here and there. I have dr Browns bottles and bottle warmer, and bottle sterilizer so I’m kind of stuck or have to spend more for avent system. (FYI Medela is compatible with dr Browns bottles but I don’t like their pump bc it’s louder and idk about portability)
