Description
The Spectra® S1 Plus Premier Rechargeable double electric breast pump provides all the features of the S2 Plus, but with a built-in battery. This means that you are now able to benefit from the efficiency, power, and performance of a hospital-strength breast pump without compromising on portability. Like all Spectra® pumps, the S1 Plus is a closed system – a physical barrier between the milk and the pump ensures hygiene and motor performance. With a maximum suction strength of 270mmHg and the ability to be used as a single or double pump, the S1 Plus is the ultimate breastfeeding solution with everything you need to get started. The S1’s completely flexible, one-touch button and digital controls allow you to set the pumping program to the speed and rhythm most effective for your body. The suction is adjustable in both let-down and expression modes. This quiet pump also includes a timer and night light.

Q: What is the difference in the S1 and S2 besides price?
submitted by asmith - 5 years ago
A: Basically just portability. The S1 is blue, and has a rechargeable battery the can last up to three hours without being plugged in - easier for moms needing to pump on the go, or even just at home (you don't have to mess with an outlet, you can just start pumping). The S1 is blue and the S2 is pink. The S2 does not have a rechargeable battery of any kind.
submitted byhannahk - 5 years ago
A: Both are hospital grade. S1 is rechargeable (can operate on battery or plugged in). S2 must be plugged in.
submitted byawood - 5 years ago
A: S1 has a built in rechargeable battery.
submitted byMercedes - 5 years ago
A: The S1 is a rechargeable battery meaning you can take it and use it anywhere. The S2 is the same pump, but it only plugs into electric, which limits its use. I used the battery operated one and found out was helpful to be able to use it in the car or wherever I needed, versus being tied to an outlet to use it. It’s light, so you can pick it up and move with it, if necessary.
submitted byDeewy - 5 years ago
A: It has a built-in rechargeable battery, making it portable, which the S2 does not have in functionality.
submitted bysj - 5 years ago
A: The S1 is rechargeable and the S2 needs to be plugged in.
submitted byCR - 5 years ago
Q: Does the unit come with the rechargeable battery or is that sold separately?
submitted by Kaira - 3 years ago
A: Hi Kaira! The S1 Plus pump model has a rechargeable battery that is built-in. It cannot be removed. If for some reason the pump is not working or the battery isn't charging correctly, please call our customer care department and we'll fully replace the entire pump.

Q: Are there milk storage bags that are compatible or recommended to go with this pump? I'm a first time mom, I'm a little unsure about the best method from pump to storage.
submitted by KelseyJ - 4 years ago
A: The Kindee storage bags are compatible with this pump using an adapter (included in the Kindee breastfeeding kit or sold separately). The breastfeeding kit also includes nipples and "bottles" that attach to the storage bags, which eliminates the need for transferring milk and the use of actual bottles that you would need to wash. Way less work. It's my first pregnancy, and I am doing as much research as I can to take advantage of anything that is out there that will make our experience smoother! We received our Kindee breastfeeding kit today, and I am eager to test it!
submitted byCarla - 3 years ago
A: Hello! Spectra offers breastmilk storage bags for use with all pumps. When choosing a storage bag, be certain it is BPA free, has a leak tight seal, and is designed for breastmilk storage. Always follow published recommendations for breastmilk storage, thawing, and reheating.

Q: I am also wondering what bottles are compatible with this breast pump or what sorts of adapters are needed to be purchased? Several questions on this topic here - PLEASE RESPOND!
submitted by Stephanie - 4 years ago
A: I use the Phillip Avent Natural bottles and they are compatible. Not sure about any other brands.
submitted byHeather - 3 years ago
A: Hi Stephanie. This is a great question. bottles are designed and tested for use with Spectra pumps. We do not recommend their use with other manufacturer's products as we cannot guarantee maximum performance and efficiency. Although we do have a Small Bottle Cap Adapter you can purchase which will fit any standard narrow neck milk bottle and fit a Spectra flange on top. Please reach out to our customer care team if you have any issues. We appreciate your question.

Q: why is this pump only $24.99 was it recalled, discontinued or just cheap?
submitted by MamaBam - 5 years ago
A: That was probably the price of the warranty. :)

A: It's very likely a typo. This is a $200 pump! If I could order it for $24.99 I would!

Q: Does this have a warranty? If so, how long?
submitted by Disha - 5 years ago
A: 2 years motor, 90 accessories
submitted byKP - 5 years ago
A: Hi Disha. The Spectra S1 Plus comes with a 2 year motor warranty and a 90 warranty for the accessories included in the box. If you have any issues with your pump, please contact our Spectra Customer Care Team at 1-855-405-0993 ext. 1 and we will happily assist you. We appreciate your question.

Q: Does the S1 spectra comes with the breast pump accessories ? or do they need to purchased separately ?
submitted by AG - 28 days ago
A: Hi AG! The S1 comes with everything you need to single and double pump. No separate purchases are needed.
I am so disappointed, I bought this as a gift for a friend who lives in Canada, and when she opens it, almost half of the parts were missing, and it was a waste of money since I can't return it because of the shipping cost

I got Elvie Stride with insurance, mom cozy s9 and Zomee gifted…by far this is the best one! I regret not choosing the Spectra when I got it from my insurance. The output is way better also I love that this pump is not obnoxiously loud. Easy to clean and definitely the best purchase in my BF/pumping journey

I bought this out of pocket after the medela pump in style, that I got through my insurance, motor failed. I love that I don’t have to be hooked up to a wall and the built in night light! Suction is so much better than the medela one.

I got a Motif Luna for my insurance freebie, and I liked it at first. At month 3 the motor stopped working, but I was able to get a replacement under the warranty. However I wasn’t about to be caught in that situation again so I bought the Spectra S1 out of pocket. It took some messing around with the settings and vaccum level, but today on my 2nd day I was able to get an extra 1.5 ounces more out on each side than I’ve been normally getting with the Luna. Very satisfied!

I am on baby #3 and I’ve always pumped exclusively. I always went with a Medela pump but this time they’ve changed their pump and the suction was horrible! I went ahead and just purchased this pump cash and it was the best thing ever! I’m sorry I couldn’t have gotten this one free from the insurance company but my cash was well spent! This shows you how long you’ve been pumping, the suction is serious, and my breast feel emptied at every pump session (15 minutes each breast). I was debating on buying this but it’s the best decision I’ve made all year !!! Get this one it’s worth it !

I really appreciate the amount of customization available when selecting speed and suction. The massage/stimulation mode provides a nice vibration that helps with faster let down. I bought this after trying both the Motif Duo and Motif Luna pumps, as well as Momcozy wearable. The Spectra is my favorite thus far. I have been expressing more from my “slacker boob” with this pump.
This machine hardly sucks. Definitely a waste of money and you can’t even return it once it’s opened. Save your money! I had the purely yours ($80.00) and worked so good for both my kids, until I recently dropped it land decided to buy this one. Ohhhh the Regret!

If you’re debating between the S1 and S2, go with the S1. The re-chargeable feature if worth it, especially if your home has outlets in odd places. The newborn phase it hard enough without being stuck to a wall AND a pump. This pump has great suction, is easy to clean, and is quite. The nightlight function is also a plus for middle of the night/early morning pumping.

Efficient pump, but I don’t love it. With my first two babies I used the Madela hands free. It’s been a few years but decided to try the spectra and I’m not in love with it. Pros: Insurance did cover Two different size options for flanges Many different settings for pumping Pumps well Holds a charge Cons: Really bulky The flanges don’t come apart which I’ve found difficult to clean as well as use with pumping bras. I’ve struggled with pumping both at same time (I am larger up top so maybe that has something to do with the bra / flange situation). Overall it’s ok. I give it 4 stars because it does do the job but I don’t think it’s perfect by any means.

Very helpful! I believe the Spectra One helped bring in my supply. However, I BF more than I pump. But my husband feeds baby once a night while I pump to bond with baby! I’m a huge fan! I also enjoy not having to plug it up on a wall. Worth the extra money. I would also buy target’s bra that holds the pump on you- it’s amazing to not have to hold them while you pump! I asked all of my friends about which pump, so I’m hoping this helps someone. Highly recommend!

I love this pump. Make sure you get a bra to hold it up (as a first time mom I didn’t know until a few weeks in). Take the time to learn the different settings to maximize your pump session. The parts are easy to assemble once you get the hang of it. I got a drying mat to place under it which was helpful in prevent messes. I also kept a paper towel next to it so I could easily dry off any condensation on the round white suction piece after I disassembled after each pump. I got more milk out of this than my cordless one (used it for work which was fine for work). And it was strong enough to unclog my ducts a few times as well without the suction being too hard compared to my cordless one that didn’t help w clogged ducts.

I had gotten a pump through insurance but so many great reviews for this. It too me awhile to actually buy it since it is pretty pricey but it is WELL worth it. It's bulkier than my Medela pump instyle but it's not that heavy at all. I like that you don't need to be tied to the wall and the suction is just as strong when not connected to the wall. The charge holds a decent amount of uses. I'm an exclusive pumper that pumps every 3 hours or so -- one charge lasts me about three days. Going from my medela pump in style, the only learning curve I had was the vacuum and cycle changes. I was accustomed to just turning it on and pumping that I was confused about the various amount of settings especially being a FTM. I found a guide online that easily fixed that problem. I feel like this pump completely empties me after 20 minutes and I almost never get a clogged duct with this. I think I got one on the beginning when I didn't understand the settings but after that, this works great!

This pump does not hold a charge ever. The flanges are not perfect and do not screw into bottles correctly or easily resulting in spilled milk. They also do not collect all milk. Be prepared to be pumping and realize you have milk trickling down your stomach. I had even purchased extra flanges in multiple sizes to get it correct and inserts. Nothing works. The suction on the flanges is meh at best. I was hopeful that this would live up to the hype, but ultimately disappointed and it completely killed my milk production. I would not recommend this to s friend or an foe. This is a painful and expense pump for its low grade quality. Incredibly disappointing.
