A: Splat is a semi-permanent color. Vibrant colors are achieved on pre-lightened hair. All semi-permanent colors "coats" the hair, so the color of the hair determines the outcome. Lighter the hair, the more Vibrant the color outcome. Darker the hair, darker the color outcome and color will not show on dark / black hair unless lightened. On dark brown hair, you might be able to achieve very subtle hues of the color in sunlight only, if the hair is not lightened.

A: Splat Midnight kits do not include bleach. Midnight kits are ideal for medium brown to pale blonde hair and previously bleached hair. Best for brunettes looking for a bold color without the bleach. Since semi-permanents colors don't mix with a developer they are completely safe for the hair and are not damaging at all.

A: Splat color can be used over henna. You will have to use a color that will cover over your recent color. You can try a color like Midnight Amber. If your hair is darker than that color it may not show.

Okay so my review was deleted the long paragraph I wrote . Long story short . Being a platinum blonde I went blue , stripped hair went orange, stripped hair then went red. IM A SPLAT LOVEEERR. And a big hater on black color cause it's hard to remove and you know the rest etc.. I've let my hair grow out (grows fast) and havea skunk tail that's what it's called now a days? Idk I'm old. It's grown out. . Now I wanted to go purple. Me having light brown hair.. with the ends that yes show bleach and years of coloring but still very healthy . My worst and number one fear/ick happened. MY HAIR LOOKS BLACK WITH THIS DYE. I bought another one and I'm not sure to even try again . I'm upset, I'm devastated I'm everything. My hair is light brown and instead of any shade of purple it looks black (besides the SUPER GROWN OUT SKUNK TAIL.) I will provide all the color phases I've happily enjoyed with SPLAT. Never has been a problem, never damaged hair, never a problem stripping (head&shoulders hack ifykyk) . But I'm definitely sad about the outcome of this, especially being promoted for dark hair. . Do you think I should try again ? I don't want to bleach my natural hair. Just wanted to get what is being promoted.. once again all colors of my hair will be uploaded . If not in order I was BLONDE-BLUE-ORANGE-RED- then growing out natural hair with blonde skunk tail , now purple grown out skunk tail with BLACK HAIR 🥲 Love ya hope this helps !

I have been coloring my hair purple for 10+ years and Splat Midnight Tanzanite is HANDS DOWN the BEST color and bang for your buck!! I have dark brown hair that I did bleach once and now I just bleach my roots twice a year to keep up with it. When I first bleached it, I also had it professionally colored purple. I was spending around $200-$300 every couple of months to keep up with it!! I decided that I either had to let the purple go or dye it myself... I tried a few different brands including Manic Panic but none were the deep bluish violet I was looking for. I even tried the purple Splat dye but it was too red. Then I tried this color and the angels sang from the heavens!!! I can't speak to unbleached hair but if you have prelightened hair, this is a Godsend! The color is multidimensional and extremely vibrant. I leave it on my hair for an hour and it always turns out perfect.

I’m super happy with how my hair turned out. I started with light brown hair and a grown out balayage. I will say it does stain bad, use the gloves, rinse in stainless steel sink or use the hose outside. Nail polish remover will get it off your skin. Left residue on my pillow even though hair was dry, but that should stop after I wash it a few times. Overall worth it!

What a strong color but OMG! Don't do it in your bathroom, it will stain surfaces and skin. Use bleach to remove stains from tile and surfaces. Also box came with unusable gloves????? Flat and couldn't open

I've been using this splat dye for probably 4 years, my hair is always healthy and so soft. the conditioner is so good. i love the color and it is very long lasting. only thing i will say that come could perceive as bad is the color barely fades and will probably never come out with any amount of color remover or bleach but i really don't care bc i love the red but if your looking for something that isn't permanent/wont last long this is probably not for you.

This should not be marketed as a semi permanent dye. It has been months and I have tried everything to strip the color out.

Our dyes are Semi-permanent, which is identified on the box, with that said the fade out time period /process varies from person to person based on hair texture, density and porosity. Industry standard wise Semi-permanents last 4-6 weeks and also varies depending on how often the hair is washed. The more the hair is washed the faster/more will fade, using a clarifying shampoo can also help. You can still have color left in the hair after the 30 washes or 4-6 weeks due to the high pigment load, depending on how long the color was processed and integrity / porosity of the hair. I mixed this with one of the midnight colors not realizing they are two different formulas. It got super watery with clumps of dye that didn't sit right in my hair. Was a pain to wash out. Will definitely get two midnight colors next time

Dyed on two heads of natural blonde hair. One is a white-blonde, the other is a med blonde. Let product sit for a hour. The purple turned blue and barely stuck after a single rinse. Complete waste of time and money

Happily surprised by this! It smells so good. My hair was highlighted and grown out by about 7 weeks. I put it on for about 40 min and washed w cold water like the directions said. It was really easy to use. Definitely wear gloves and cover your sink because it will stain!!!

I really wanted to like this dye because the color is beautiful on my hair but it stains everything, even running my fingers through my hair dry. And my hair feels very damaged after this. I won't be using it again.

In order to stop all the bleeding and staining we recommend that you do a really good rinse with cooler water, rinse the hair until the water runs clear, shampoo the hair really good making sure all excess color is being shampooed out, rinse again with cooler water until the water runs clear, apply conditioner allowing it to set for a few minutes then do the last final rinse with cooler water until the water runs clear. Splat is a semi-permanent color / direct dye and these types of dyes just coat the hair meaning they sit on the hair shaft and don't really penetrate unless the hair is very porous.

I used the midnight jade today! Now the tub and my skin came out like an aqua blue color, but my hair came out black!! I didnt have an issue with the tanzanite one but this one just didnt come out like the box said, I went into the sunlight just to make sure but the jade didnt come out!

This red is such a beautiful colour. I always make a mess doing it because I have long hair but it is always worth it. I finally found a brand that has a beautiful long lasting colour that will wash out and not stain my hair (unlike natural instincts 😒). I don't use shampoo much and wash in the sink with cold water so it lasts a good amount of time. I've tried a few colours but this is my favorite.
