Q: My thermometer display had been showing Fahrenheit then all of a sudden started displaying the temp in Celsius. Is there any way to switch it back to Fahrenheit?

A: I would have to say, “no”. I would also not recommend this thearmometer. It’s very cheap. I don’t even have it anymore because it broke. I would recommend a larger fryer/candy thermometer for making candy. You will want one that clios to the side of the pan.

We’ve bought two of these over the last year and a half. The first one made it about 8 months before the top started coming off. We figured it was a fluke and bought a second the top popped off after the first use. It take zero effort to take the lid off.

I’m giving this 3 stars because I like how small it is and it’s accurate. It gets the job done. My dislikes are that it takes a long time compared to my other ones to get the temperature read and it also takes a long time to adjust if you move the thermometer to another piece of meat or another area. For example, I always check the temperature of my chicken breasts and when I stuck the thermometer in the first one, it got up to 170° slowly and that’s where it stopped. I switched to another breast that was larger and it sat at 170° for about 90 seconds before it adjusted the temperature for the second chicken breast. All in all it was good quality for the low price.

Cheaply made! Worked okay as far as what its supposed to do but as I went to pull the thermometer out of the sleeve, the whole top half (screen) popped off and then the wires that were connected all ripped off. Didn't pull it in anyway out of the ordinary. Just broke. Only had it for a week.

I bought this to replace a different Taylor thermometer that had always done me right. This one was pure disappointment. Temp readings were almost always off - by a lot. I temped some chicken tonight, this thermometer showed it between 95 and 100F, two other kitchen thermometers both agreed on 170-175. Being 70-75 degrees under actual temp is completely unacceptable. When it comes to food safety, I need to be able to count on my thermometer, and this is not one I can count on. I've had suspicion for some time it wasn't reading correctly, but tonight I finally gave in, confirmed my hunch, removed the battery for recycling and threw it out. Pure garbage.
