Q: can we place this gate at the top of the stairs? does it come with hardware to secure it to the wall or just a pressure gate?

A: Thank you for your question. Because the Riverstone Extra Tall and Wide Baby Gate is strictly pressure-mounted gate, it should not be used at the top of the stairs. The mounting hardware is included with the gate, but the hardware only installs it with tension and does not permanantly attach it to the mounting surface.

Q: Is there a way to get this to fit a 72" opening? Are there any extension packs or, if we had to, would it work if I buy two and use only the extension packs from the second? Thanks!

A: Thank you for your question. There are not additional extensions available to increase the size of the Riverstone Extra Tall and Wide Baby Gate. The maximum width it will fit is 52 inches.

Q: when opening, do you have to unlatch at top and bottom? will it swing shut and latch or do you have to manually latch? Will the gate accommodate different widths at top and bottom of opening?

A: Thank you for reaching out to us with these questions. To open the door panel of the gate, you do not have unlatch the top and bottom. You simply use your thumb to slide a tab on the upper latch, while also squeezing the trigger on the underside of the upper latch. Then, lift the door panel upwards simultaneously, allowing the door to swing open. To close the gate, simply release it and it will auto-close and latch. It does have a stay-open feature, however, and this can be used by opening the door further than 90 degrees. It then will remain open until it is swung closed. This should only be use by adults and not when children are present. The gate can accomodate a slight variance in the upper and lower measurements, but it really depends on the difference. To get a better idea, you can view the instruction manual for the gate to determine if the two measurements you need fall into the window that allows the gate to fit your space. The instruction manual can be found on the manufacture's website.

A: Thank you for your question. Yes, the Riverstone Extra Tall and Wide Baby Gate will fit a 48" doorway. When installing the gate you will need to use only two out of the three included extensions. The instruction manual will walk you through installation.

A: Thank you for your question. Yes, this gate can be pressure mounted on a solid, flat surface such as wood or drywall. You can use it in between doorways, hallways or at the bottom of a staircase.

Q: I see it says 36" tall, but can you verify the exact height at the top of the side mount bracket? My banister is only 35" tall, so just wondering if too tall.

We purchased this gate several months ago to keep the dogs out of the mudroom. Not only does it look good but the quality is great. This gate gets a lot of use in our home and is tall enough that our medium to large sized dogs can’t get over (well it prevents them from even trying). The latch mechanism has held up wonderfully, the color is in a nice matte finish and it was easy to install. We liked it so much, we just bought a second one for our hallway.

We're using this as a puppy gate and it's working great. We have a wide hallway and this fit perfect. I like that it closes automatically so we don't have to check it. Best of all, it's pretty tall so it well definitely keep the jumping puppies from going down the hall. we did install it a few inches off the ground to provide room for our cats to crawl under the gate. It seems sturdy enough.

Hands down the most functional and best baby gate design I have ever seen. It's extra wide for those wider doorways and extra tall to prevent those curious toddlers from climbing over. This gate installs quickly and stays put. I just love the overall design and the graphite color fits any decor. Another thing I love is the gravity feed door that closes so gently behind me. And the hold open feature is just another added bonus for when I don't need to have the gate closed. This gate is very durable, heavy and will surely provide years of service to my family.

This gate shuts nice and firmly, so I feel like my young children are safe and won't be able to push the gate open. It is nice that the gate swings both ways, so you can push it open or pull it open. Fairly easy to open, but it does take a while getting used to it.

Excellent quality gate. Currently using it to block off a large stairwell. So far the kiddo has not been able to make it over/knock it down, walls are not damaged, and the gate swings with ease. Its not to difficult to open once you try it once or twice.

Great gate. I like that it is extra tall so my toddler can't climb it like he does with other gates. It is sturdy and holds up to him shaking it trying to get it open. The cat is still able to jump over, which is nice since I forgot about that aspect when choosing a gate. The extensions are easy to install, fits great at the bottom of my wide stair opening. It is easy to open, even one handed. It stays open if you want it to, or swings shut. Gate opens in both directions.

Out of the box, it looks pretty simple to get in order, however, it takes a tad bit of work. No worries though, it's heavy and sturdy, so the baby can't get out. I love the look of it and the style, which matches my home and its decor. I feel confident in knowing my dogs and kids won't get hurt by it slipping down either.

The Toddleroo Baby Gate by North States is not at all what I anticipated it being. It did not come with instructions. After trying to figure it out on my own I eventually searched the internet for a manual. Which was also not as helpful as I had hoped it would be. Getting the inserts out to install the extension pieces was challenging. Getting the entire gate together was challenging. Discovering that it would not work for the walls I intended it to go for was frustrating. I was under the assumption that no hardware was required, and it is. Additionally, since it’s pressure mounted it takes so much pressure to close the gap between the gate and the handle that it was putting too much pressure on my drywall. I moved it to another doorway that has wood to finish trying it out. Once installed like it details in the manual the doorway still doesn’t latch well. It keeps getting stuck at the bottom and definitely isn’t easy to open or possible to open with one hand. The whole installation experience was nothing short of frustrating. Especially since it will not work up against my drywall. The gate itself has a nice finish, and I like the height. However, since it was impossible to work with and hard to open I would not recommend it.
