Under the Surface follows a group of teens on their high school trip to Paris with their teachers. Ruby is eager to get footage for her YouTube travel channel which focuses on secret and hidden locations. She has a crush on her friend Sean who helps her edit her YouTube videos. Her bold and reckless best friend Val is looking for adventure. When Val meets Julien, a charming and mysterious French boy who invites her to a party she sneaks off to meet him, Ruby sets off with two other girls determined to bring Val back. When it is revealed that Julien's party is in the Paris catacombs, Ruby caves to temptation and they enter the catacombs. They never make the party. What follows is dangerous, frightening and claustrophobic. Under the Surface is an addictive, scary, tense and twisty teen thriller. The setting of the Parisian catacombs is atmospheric, eerie, disorienting and dark. The story also tackled some mature themes such as grief, abandonment, vulnerability and toxic friendships. I thoroughly enjoyed this creepy, fast paced thriller.

This one was pretty decent. I guessed part of the ending but the suspense and red-herrings were very well done.
