This Hearth & Hand Vintage Wood Radio is equipped with a built-in Lithium Ion battery. It is rechargeable and meant to last for years to come. However, there is no way to give an estimate on the lifespan of the battery since environmental factors, like exposure to sunlight or extreme temperatures, plus the different usage of each customer greatly affects the longevity of the battery. The great thing about this radio though, is that after years of regular use if your radio battery stops keeping charge you can still use it if it is plugged in continuously. Or you can take it to a repair shop and have them put in a new battery. Based on our product engineers’ review of the issue you are describing, the radio’s volume output can be adjusted normally in AM/FM mode, so this issue may be related to your mobile phone’s settings rather than the speaker itself. To help troubleshoot, unpair your current phone from the radio, then try pairing a different brand or model of phone to see if the issue is related to the original phone’s settings.
