Q: Is is suppose to be in color or black and white and why can't the screen stay lit up instead of always going black.?

  • A: Hi - The night vision mode of the VTech VM3258 will only activate once it detects low light. It will go back to day vision once it detects day light. The unit also has a sound activation feature that will turn off the display screen of the parent unit when there is no activity detected in 50 seconds. The said feature can be set to off. The screen has a good quality resolution even in the dark, but the screen goes into a sleep mode after 2 mins and doesn't give any audio or visual until you press a button. It's not a mode I have it set on either. It seems to just be glitchy and only registers very loud noises.

Good little Camera

I like this camera, it's small enough to stick in your coat pocket and the display is very clear especially in night vision mode. I also have the upgraded version of this camera and I do not like it as much. For the price this camera will do for what you need it for. I use it all the time and I've dropped it both camera and viewer and both have held up very well. Highly recommend if youre in need of a quick fix. 4 stars because it does not rotate or move with a button, you have to physically move thr lens to where u want to see. Otherwise never looses connection as does my other upgraded camera. It's not bad, I'd say buy it.

Fine monitor, especially for a budget. Has a bit of a lag in audio and video. Video quality is not great, but shows what you need. If you’re like me, though, and want to be able to see your baby breathing, the video quality cannot provide that. We returned for a monitor that has pan and tilt because it is just not worth not having! Would recommend infant optics instead.

Lights keeping baby and me up

There is a blinking light on the camera portion you can’t turn off. So be prepared to have your baby point at the camera all night saying “what’s that?” There’s also a light on the monitor at the top right that can’t be turned off and it’s so bright I can’t even sleep.

Believe us when we say this product stops functioning properly within 3 months of purchase. The camera can no longer hold a charge and the volume is crazy loud even at lowest setting so make sure it’s plugged in before the battery beeps and potentially wakes baby especially if sound travels in your space as it does in mine.

Does a great job for what I need it to do! Love that it comes with a screen I can view baby through, and that it plays sounds. What I dislike is that the sounds stop on their own after a certain amount of time. Wish it would be nonstop till I turned it off. But I use this monitor for working with my baby and it does a great job for helping me keep an eye on her while she naps.

Only one left on shelf that was in our price range when the baby monitor we had stopped working, got it home and the picture never turned on didn’t have time to returned used this as a basic sound only monitor for the 2 days until the one we order came in
