disappointing
Unfortunately, the cat DNA test is not on par with the dog one. Disappointing percentage of "American Domestic Cat"

Cat DNA results
I received the DNA results in under 2 weeks. I’m not too sure on the results. My shelter cat looks and acts like a Maine Coon, but he is only 5% Maine Coon. He was 83% domestic, Munchkin, and Scottish Fold. The last two breeds don’t match at all.

Love of a big, orange cat!
After bringing home Ollie from the Humane Society, we always wondered what our big guy had in his family’s past. Turns out he is part Maine Coon Cat!

So cool!
Learning that my cat was 2% korat cat made me curious as to what that was. To Google it went and to my suprise my cat looks identical to a korat cat! Yet her only 2%. Doing this test was a fun Learning experience. Plus knowing he didn't test positive for any of the illnesses that could occur.

I've done the DNA on
I've done the DNA on 2 of my cats so far and they've helped me understand my cats better. I plan on doing the test one more time.

Amazing
A few days after Christmas, I ordered a Wisdom Panel test for my dog and purchased two of them for my two cats. They arrived the next day. Getting my dog’s sample was super easy. My cat’s was not!! Lol! I mailed them back to Wisdom Panel immediately after getting their samples with the self addressed, postage paid box they came with. I had results of all three within two weeks. It is so nice to see that there were no genetic health issues for any of my fur babies. That is one of the main reasons I wanted to do it. It was so much fun seeing how much of what breed was present in each sample. My dog was really interesting because I got him when he was over a year old and had no idea what breed he was. I would recommend Wisdom Panel to anyone wanting to know more about their fur babies! ❤️

Highly credible and reliable results that were returned faster than estimated. Knowing what health issues my cat may face gives me leverage in her treatment and great peace of mind

Fast results
It was interesting to see my kittens breeds although I was shocked no Bengal showed up because he has many Bengal traits. So glad his health scores were good especially the Scottish Fold pain disorder being negative.

I was really excited to
I was really excited to try this DNA test for my cat Leo, who I rescued from the street when he was just 2 weeks old. I knew going in that cat DNA tests aren't as specific or advanced as dog DNA tests, and I certainly wasn't expecting to find out he's some rare purebred, but I was hoping for at least some interesting insights into his background—especially since Leo looks identical to a Birman cat with seal point coloring. I thought for sure he'd have some Birman, Balinese, or at the very least some Ragdoll genes in there. Unfortunately, the results were pretty disappointing. The test came back with essentially "domestic American shorthair," which is basically the genetic equivalent of "your cat is a cat. " Nothing in the results matched Leo's physical appearance or his personality traits. I can't completely fault the test itself—I understand the genetics to some degree and I know that a cats phenotype doesn't necessarily indicate genotype. I understand the science behind cat genetics is still developing and that most street rescues like Leo are such a mix that pinpointing specific breeds is nearly impossible. I guess it's just disappointing that cat DNA tests aren't at the same level as dog DNA tests yet. I think this test would be more useful for someone who suspects their cat might have a significant percentage of a specific breed, but for the average rescue cat owner looking for insights, you might end up disappointed. Perhaps once cat DNA testing technology advances and databases expand, these tests will be able to provide more detailed and actionable information. For now, I'd say save your money unless you have a specific reason to believe your cat has purebred ancestry.

Very Inaccurate.
Mother was a Manx and father was a stray. I was fostering mother and babies. Some were born with tails and 2 without. I kept Fievel. I saw him come out of his mother with a docked tail. Not sure how the test results work but I find it odd he had no genetic marker for a stubby tail and came back as Norwegian forest cat and DSH. 0 Manx. Bummed because it seems highly inaccurate.

You are not the father
Contrary to the breeder, I found out both of my boys have similar characteristics and may not even have had the same father or mother. They were bonded brothers and I took them both home together. They will have a loving forever home with me despite not being what I thought they were. Thank you, Wisdom Panel for giving me the clues to understand my fur babies.

Lots of data that's fun to consider
. . . . but that doesn't mean everything is easy to understand. There's no indication which parents are the mother and father when it calls out the percentage of the parents' DNA according to breed. So, you have to guess. All my cats were supposed to be purebred, but in a least likely stud, one of his parents was called 8% Domestic Shorthair, 13% Ragdoll, and only 81% Maine Coon. But I can't tell which parent it's referring to. by the way it's presented. That information would help me avoid the cattery that snuck mutts into the line. Anyway, this gives clear enough information on genetic faults and that is a wonderful thing to have for breeders. I can cull all the cats out so that none of mine will have those problems. And that's great for the breed.

Easy to use and great results!
I was shocked by the results of what breeds my cats are! Love to know more about them and am so happy this service exists. The sample collection is straight forward and the only struggle comes from how your cat may do with foreign objects being in its mouth ~ but a well worth it, 15 second, fight and simply ship the boxes away to be tested! We did three cats at once, and we're amazed by each result. Even some of the health notes were helpful and interesting, especially with the stray we took in last year. Our vet enjoyed that we did this too! Could not be happier with this company/process/service. Thank you Wisdom Panel Team!

Disappointed
I have very unique all black long hair rescue kittens. I had this DNA test done and was told they are 97% American Domestic. I find it hard to believe such unique kittens with distinct features are nothing more than 97% combo of every cat in the USA.
