Upgrade and well worth it
Upgraded from Epix Gen 2 a few months ago. There is not one thing I don't like about the fenix 8 all the way down to the flashlight. Great job with all Garmin products.

Solar 47mm
Outstanding, I definitely prefer mips for the always on display, and solar for the insane battery life. Does everything I need in an outdoor fitness watch , just missing a microphone on the keyboard for voice to text response on Android. I ended up keeping the 51mm solar fire the bigger screen I like the premium look of titanium over black

My new favorite garmin
I’ve been wearing the Garmin Fenix 8 for a short time now, and it’s easily become my new favorite watch. Coming from the Fenix 7 Pro, I wasn’t sure how much of a difference I’d notice—but wow, Garmin really stepped it up. First off, I absolutely love how it looks. The design feels refined but still rugged, with that signature Fenix toughness. It has a bold, premium presence on the wrist without feeling over-the-top. The build quality is exactly what you’d expect—solid, durable, and ready for anything. Whether I’m working out, outdoors, or just going about my day, it feels like it can handle it all without a second thought. The screen is what really surprised me. It looks and feels bigger compared to the Fenix 7 Pro, and that extra real estate makes a noticeable difference. Everything is easier to read at a glance—stats, maps, notifications—you name it. It just feels more immersive and polished. Performance-wise, it’s fast, responsive, and packed with features. Garmin continues to nail the balance between advanced training tools and everyday smartwatch functionality. But honestly, what makes this watch stand out to me is how it brings everything together—durability, style, and usability—in one clean package. If you’re coming from a Fenix 7 Pro and wondering if it’s worth the upgrade, I’d say yes. The Fenix 8 feels like a true evolution, and for me, it’s hands down my favorite Garmin yet.

Love my Fenix 8 47mm!
Bought my watch a couple weeks ago and I love it. Switched from Apple ultra 2, and it’s the best decision I’ve made. Just on the battery alone, it’s worth it IMO. I also switched to keep me accountable. Joined a garmin running plan and been on track.

It's Okay, not a big step up from the 965
Its not worth the step up in price relative to say, a 965. The watch has the same look and feel as the 965 with nearly all the same features except for the light. It's not as appealing to look at being a little bulkier and having that cover on the side, which is a different color that the watch is a bit of an eye sore. For me, I elected to try this watch because it has the cover over the altimeter that I am hoping helps protect it from chemicals in the pool as the 965 altimeter only worked for about 3-5 months on each of the last eight of them that I had. If you are a multisport athlete and use Garmin watches in the pool the altimeter fails quickly even with the recommended rinse immediately after pool use or the lukewarm soak.

Very good watch +
I’ve owned this for a 5 months, the battery life is exactly as advertised. The original unit suddenly lost battery life, which Garmin replaced under warranty without hesitation after running troubleshooting checks. Very happy overall, the HR monitoring is not hugely accurate, but overall, the battery life alone makes this a very worthy replacement for my old Apple Watch.

A little disappointed
I am coming from the Garmin Epix Pro 2. The display is much better however, the wrist tracking of heart rate is not as good. I know the best way to track. The heart rate is a chest strap, but the Epix was very good at tracking heart rate via wrist. It was a little disappointing to find out the Fenix it’s not as good

A great watch with Shxxxx controls and UI.
Amazing functions / Golf / Running/ Exercise/Biking - all good individually. Together it is a hot mess. You really need to understand how to navigate the watch. Not intuitive. Too many buttons - screens - Remove some buttons - you don't need different buttons to do same functions - and touch screen to do same functions. Can't have 3 apps to manage a watch. Awesome features!
I had a Fenix 5 which I purchased several years ago. Decided to upgrade when I found out I could use my HSA funds. This watch is a definite upgrade from my old one. The screen/display is amazing! Much crisper than my old one. The sensors are much improved. I had to use a chest heart rate monitor to get accurate readings with strength training exercises with the old one. This one is spot on! Logging workouts on the watch is much improved as well. Overall I love this watch! I recommend Garmin watch’s to everyone that is looking for an exercise focused watch/device. I even tried the whoop device but after 3 faulty devices sent to me in a row, none of them would charge, I canceled it. Their build quality is horrible. And it doesn’t tell time lol. Garmin is the best, hands down!!

Lots of optionality and simplicity in training
love the watch. Once I began to understand the features, it has really helped my training. Only complaint is I wish it came with a quick use guide. It would have made my start up time faster.

So much to do I can't figure it all out!
I have had the Fenix 8 47" for a bit over a month. I have been using it for goldong, walks and strength workouts. I can't wait to go hiking and running with this watch. It does everything! The memory storage is unreal. The light on the watch is a nice extra. I have used it several times at hotels and outdoors in the dark. The battery lasts about 15 days in watch mode. Pure awesome!
