Incredible watch with some irritating flaws

The watch itself is just beautiful. However, some flaws are making me reconsider my purchase. Number one, which is a complaint across many forums, is the dimming of the display in different light conditions. At night, sometimes to see it you have to shine it under a light to get the display to brighten up. For the price of the watch, we should be able to adjust this manually. Also, the weather is always 3 to 5° out of sync. For some, this isn’t a big deal but being in Arizona it is critical. Again, for the price of the watch, I should be able to set the interval that it checks the weather. Sleep tracking is a bit flawed. If I get up more than twice to urinate at night, it thinks I’m awake and doesn’t calculate the right sleep times. Others have reported that they will be driving down the road and an alert will pop up saying how was your nap? All of these complaints can be viewed on the fenix eight Facebook group with 43,000 members. I got really tired of my Apple Watch and its battery life. But I had none of these issues with that watch.

When it works it's great but it also has some bugs. Every month or so it won't synchronize with my phone using the sleep/body battery. Not sure which side is the problem but have to delete and relink to fix. Linking is also painful requiring 3 or 4 attempts before it will properly connect even though the phone is a foot away. Recently updated to Samsung 25 and the bug remains) Also annoying that their flagship watch won't link with the CT-1 club sensors requiring you to spend hundreds more for that functionality (or in my case - not).

The Good stuff: The fit is way more comfortable than I thought possible It looks nice out of the box but a bit intimidating Battery life is great & it is easy to change, so far Not too heavy for my liking but it feels good & solid Now the Bad parts: This is the first "Smart-Watch" I have bought & holy crap has it been a huge long learning curve The "instructoral videos" on your website are of little help Very pricey! Can not use FSA funds to purchase

I love my Amoled Fenix 8 51 mm, a big upgrade from my Fenix 5x Plus. Since I travel through different time zones frequently, I wish I could keep a selected alternate time permanently stay on, not only for few moment and then goes back to my watch face.

The watch is unbelievable! As someone who has been an Apple Watch user for years, I finally made the jump to a Garmin watch and have never looked back. As an athlete that runs, cycles, swims, hikes etc. It was crucial that I had a reliable piece of equipment that is with me at all times. I could honestly talk for days about all of the features this watch offers that I absolutely love! But I will try to keep it short and just add that the battery life is game changer as well has having a super bright LED light on you at all times. If you are thinking about picking this watch up do it! It has been one of my best investments that I have made.

I’ve had an Apple Watch forever and it was average it was just like having a baby phone on my wrist which was OK if that’s what you’re into. I tried to Whoop for 30 days and hated wearing two devices if I needed to watch. This thing is awesome, I know it’s a lot of money which is lame but it’s worth every penny the battery life is awesome the metrics are incredible. It’s just a fantastic watch

The watch as a watch is perfect. Good quality build! Very good hardware. But the software and especially the watch faces available are below expectations. The smartwatch competition is great and the price tag of this watch is so high. It’s the most expensive smartwatch in the market. I should be able to choose the watch face I want and adjust it the way I want! I also had the Epix Gen 2. It had some nice watch faces but these are not available on fenix! A Garmin watches faces should be available and we should be given the option to use them and adjust them. The ones available are ok impossible to adjust like the ones that come with the watch!!! Garmin needs to improve this urgently!!

Best watch I’ve ever owned. Had an Apple Watch for multiple years and got tired of charging every night. You can’t do everything you can with the Apple Watch but it doesn’t matter. I can get notifications from my phone on here, great maps, workout specialization is awesome, and it’s been 10 days without charging. Would recommend to anyone!!

I have Garmin products for my bike and wanted to complete the ecosystem with the Fenix 8 switching from Apple Watch Ultra. Did research for a good week and made the switch. First power on, blue triangle appeared. I didn’t know what it meant at the time and thought it was just normal. Wore the watch for a few days and tracking and metrics were highly inaccurate and required constant calibration. The watch structure itself is solid and the system is complex to learn. 4 days later it crashed in the middle of a swim and was locked on the blue triangle aka “blue triangle of death.” Screen was frozen and support offered a free exchange. I took the full refund instead. Disappointed for sure considering the amount of money the product cost. Will be going back to my Apple product.

I've had the Fenix 8 for nearly a month now. I've had it over three weeks now and haven't charged it since the day I got it, when I initially charged it. I came over from an Apple Ultra Watch, and I'm very glad I made the switch. From weather to tracking workouts, to sleep and pulse O2, this thing is great. The only thing so far I'd like to see change is a longer charging cable with a 90-degree end at the watch would be better, but since it doesn't have to be charged very frequently, I can live with that.

I have not worn watching years. My father bought me a Seiko when I graduated high school. Holy smokes did I ever buy a nice watch? It looks good on your wrist. I swim now and I can tie my laps. I also resell boats and has a whole module for sailboat racing. It is awesome. I treated myself to it for my 60th birthday.

Purchased the Fenix 8, 51mm AMOLED sapphire, just over a month ago and I’m very pleased with the watch. I owned a Fenix 7 Solar previously and it was a solid watch with great features and quality. Made the move to the 8 for the AMOLED feature knowing the brightness of the watch face would be a big plus. The feel of the button press is different from the Fenix 7 but not in a bad or odd way. I have been an Apple Ultra 2 owner and wearer but no more. The features, AMOLED face and battery life of the Fenix 8 have converted me to become a Garmin daily wearer.

I upgraded to the Fenix 8 51mm from the Epix Pro II (51mm). For me the upgrade was worthwhile. I like the way the new buttons function. I also like the updated interface, which takes very little time to get used to. I also really like the mini-speaker. All of these features have me really enjoying the watch. I have owned every Fenix variant since the Fenix 3 and think the jump from Epix to Fenix was the most significant.
