Lightweight, easy to use, and made well
I had to say goodbye to my first Singer sewing machine, which lasted 46 years. I just purchased the heavy duty 4423 sewing machine. It is lightweight, easy to use, and made well. It comes with all the accessories most users will ever need. I’m really enjoying using it.

Would not recommend
Got this as a gift and it is horrible. Thread breaks every time I use it. Had it to 2 repair shops and no one can fix it.

Poorly made
Straight out of the box, the shaft where needle is inserted was misaligned, even with the dial set to the right the needle was not perpendicular. Lifting the presser foot, the lifter tab hit the housing when raised to get extra height. I took off the cover and the lifter mechanism also hits a screw holding in the upper thread guide. I tried a dozen different needles, bought brand new high quality thread, changed bobbins, different fabrics, settings, and still couldn't get a consistent nice stitch. I couldn't sew at night it would wake up my toddler way down the hall door closed it was so clunky and loud.

Not a reliable machine
Cheaply made, cannot get tension correct, bottom thread bunches no matter what I do. Can't afford a service call that costs more than machine. My last electronic Singer did everything and lasted 30+ years

Very reliable machine
I bought this machine a few months ago and am very happy with it. Easy to use and has plenty of power I made a lumbar pillow with corded trim, had no problems whatsoever

Gift
This was a gift for my niece so she would have the same machine as I do. This way I could help her as she starts her journey. I am very happy with my machine and hope she will be too. The only complaint is the buttonhole process which seems to be very complicated

Do not buy
Do NOY buy. Do nit expven accept as a gift. 60 years and three sewing machines. This is a piece of garbage. The bobbin mechanism never works. I disn and read the users manual every single time I dare to use this machine. Took me two ounces of chocolate to calm down today. I’d give it to Goidwill but I can’t subject anyone to this piece of junk. Spend the extra money and get a better machine.

Ok machine if you have sewn before.
Love this machine for straight stitching. However, no instructions come with it - you can find a guide on line that will tell you how to thread it - otherwise you just keep trying different settings until you figure out what to do. Luckily I have sewn for a very long time, so it wasn’t terrible to figure out. Just wanted an easy to carry machine otherwise I wouldn’t have purchased it. (Purchased during Covid)

Where's the manual?
I bought the machine a few weeks ago and have used it a little bit. It seems sturdy enough, but what a lot of plastic! I sure wish it had come with a hard-copy paper manual. That would have been a fifth star.

Great Machine!
I really love this machine, bought it about a month ago and have replaced my very expensive light weight Brother machine with it. Stiches are beautiful, very easy to use. It is everything I need in a machine!

Great Machine for Beginners
I'm new to sewing, and this machine was consistently recommended to me as beginner friendly model. I've used the machine for about a month now and I agree this is great a machine for beginner's. Everything is laid out in a way that’s easy to understand. I've been able to figure out how to sew multiple projects and fabrics.

Don't Buy, poorly made garbage
This machine is a cheap piece of garbage. I purchased my Singer Heavy Duty 4432 machine at the end of last year. I don't use a sewing machine often, but I needed to upgrade and assumed that this machine would be suitable for my purposes. This past week, a project came up that required some sewing and I was excited to finally put my machine to use. Literally the first time I went to fill the bobbin, a plastic piece inside the machine broke. I was forced to rig the bobbin to my electric drill just to get through the job. Now, when I go to look up the warranty, I discover that it's only good for 90 days on mechanical parts. This brand new machine that I've used exactly once has already broken and apparently, if I want to even bother to fix it, I'm on my own. Is this what Singer has come to? I always considered Singer to be a trusted brand that builds quality sewing machines, but if this is what I can expect, then this will be the last machine I buy from them.

I bought this machine and it showed up broken, the bobbin threader was broken off, the bags containing the other items were open already. Did they send me a previously returned machine?

Heavy Duty??
I bought this a month ago. I like the machine but I was hoping Heavy Duty meant it would sew over the thick seam of jeans I have to shorten. After breaking a needle, I just finished sewing it by hand. Also, it would help very much to have the manual included. It’s much needed, but has been a hassle to try and get one online.

Not what I expected
Bought the exact model my sister-in-law has I thought it was all metal like hers but it’s plastic. Bought the hard shell case to protect it but it’s just an empty shell with NO protection for the machine at all! It just flopped around! Had to use packaging from the shipping to keep machine stable in the case so what’s the point
