Dig It Up! Dinosaur Eggs by MindWare is the perfect group activity! Experience the thrilll of discovery just like a real paleontologist! Set includes one dozen individually-wrapped clay eggs with a different dinosaur inside, each with a chiseling tool and instructions. Every egg in the carton contains a different dinosaur! Simply soak the 3" egg in water and chisel away the shell to excavate the dinosaur inside with the chisel tool. Includes a full color excavation guide. Recommended for ages 4 and up.

Set of Doubles; Missing T. Rex
My kids had immense fun cracking these eggs together. They kept the guide, calling it a “menu,” to keep track of the order they cracked them in. However, the one dinosaur that my son was excited to get was the T. rex. Instead, we got two eggs with identical triceratopses in them. Needless to say, on the very last night of opening these eggs after days of anticipation, they were extremely disappointed.

Very quality activity. Took my 4 and 2 year olds 1.5 hours to dig them all out. Just the right amount of waiting and digging. Comes with a nice pamphlet that you could definitely make higher level for older kids

Caused Allergic Rash
Our child developed a rash on their hands, neck and back after playing with this toy. We are assuming something in the clay compound may have caused it. Every child is different but just wanted to add this note incase it helps anyone else.

Getting the same dino over and over again
My 4 year old daughter loves her dinosaurs. Bought this to keep her entertained. Unfortunately, you would think being 12 eggs, they would be assorted dinosaurs, not repeatedly having the same dinosaurs multiple of times.

Hard to break and messy but got kid entreteined
They are hard to dig for a 4 year old. Also very messy. But they serve their purpose, my kid was very entreteined while playing with these. And after getting all the dinosaurs, he played a lot with them. Just bought a different set and they’re easy to break and not muddy like these ones.

These were great fun for my dinosaur-loving child. My only recommendation is that I suggest you soak them for double the recommended time. We had one egg that even I struggled with. But on the whole, lots of fun!

Worst "surprise" toy
The marketing photo is misleading—the eggs are not easy to open and do not stay clean. The eggs turn into this clay, runny mess but were still hard to chisel even after soaking them. I regret this purchase.

We took the plastic wrap off, and wondered why it smelled. Opened it up and black mold/mildew was inside. The instruction sheet was molded as well as the papers inside each packaged egg. You can tell the box had gotten wet somehow.
