Shade too large and short to cover glaring bulb.
The shade is large, not very tall, and does not have a top cover. Consequently, when we put it on an end table in the middle of the living room, we found it hard to avoid the glaring, bare light bulb. This lamp would work best if sitting on a higher surface in the corner or against a wall, so that you are not often standing near and above it. Also, the base looks nice but the middle part is pretty clearly fake wood. So, although the lamp has a nice look, if you examine it closely at all it is evident that the quality is not excellent.
