A: These are not good for long-term storage. Long-term storage requires the vacuum seal the metal lids provide. These are great for a couple days after you break the seal when you take the can OUT of storage.

If you are vacuum sealing your jars, please check with the manufacturer of the vacuum sealer for guidance on using these lids with their product.

A: I don't care for the metal "rings" that are for freezing, but I have found that placing a metal lid under the plastic one goes a long way towards maintaining freshness :-).

A: Yes. As long as your jar also works with a normal wide mouth ring type the threads will work.

A: They are a hair over 3/4 inch tall, just under 2 cm. Jars are about 2mm taller with these lids than with the metal ring lids. They just barely fit on my shortest shelf that is 6 and 3/4" tall.

A: No, definitely not. Canning requires the metal lid, but once you *open* the metal lid to eat what's inside, these are great for refrigerating the open jar for a couple days if you didn't eat it all at once.

A: Any jar with a wide mouth opening. Pints, quarts, even half-gallons can be bought that take the same wide-mouth lid. Regular-mouth jars will NOT fit. (There is a different product for those.)
