Best Medium Roast
I have tried an insane amount of coffee brands. This is the best medium roast coffee out there. Anyone who says it tastes burnt just doesn't know how to brew coffee. Just the smell of the beans when you open the bag tells you you're in for a treat of you know how to brew a good cup.

Bad coffee from a reputable roaster.
This coffee is bad. Like bad-bad. I purchased it because the other roasts were really good and I took a chance on this. The flavor notes on the bag are not present when brewing, even with different brewing methods. My coffee was roasted 2 months prior to my purchase date so maybe that had something to do with it. It was oily (clogged the grinder too) tasted burnt and rubbery and had a bitter aroma. Avoid this bold roast and stick to the light stuff. I have heard that once these small roasters branch out nationally, they outsource production so I hope Blue Bottle sees this and makes note on quality control.

Like earlier reviewer said, this will be great if you drink Starbucks, but if you buy in store from Blue bottle, this is not up to par. It's still a good bag and pretty decent, but not the same.

Lower cost alternative-still pretty good
I’m a big fan of Blue Bottle’s Bella Donovan roast but it gets expensive. This was around $5 cheaper per bag and it’s a good in between coffee. I’ll still treat myself with Bella Donovan occasionally because I’ve not found anything quite as fresh and delicious.

if your baseline is Folgers, Starbucks, etc., you will love. If you are expecting quality like counter culture, intelligentsia, or even in-store Blue Bottle, you will be sorely disappointed. BOLD is very flat and one-dimensional; you would NEVER find coffee of this quality in any of their shops.

I used to have a blue bottle subscription and was excited to see it on the shelves at Target. Unfortunately the coffee disappoints. The flavor and boldness that you generally see is missing and it’s probably cause this is a target version.
