Even though both the umbrella and the umbrella stand are made by Costway, apparently no one ever tested them together. The 1.5" spacer and the 1.5" umbrella pole are the exact same width, meaning IT DOESN'T FIT!! Therefore, you're forced to use the wider spacer and there is a very noticeable gap between the spacer and the pole, so it's never really secure no matter how much you tighten the knob. Poor engineering job by Costway.
