Q: Are these bags certified to go into municpal green waste?

A: Hi there, and thanks for the question! Our Tall Kitchen 13g bags are certified by BPI to be composted at commercial facilities that accept compostable certified bags along with food waste and other compostable items. Since there are different requirements for what can be accepted depending on the municipality, we recommend asking your collection agency of the green waste bin for confirmation. Thank you!

Really wanted to like it.. love the concept but they need to work on quality.. doesn’t help if I need to double bag n stuff. Easily tears n ties break even like light pull. Ended up leaking my kitchen stuff. Hope they’re listening to feedback and making them better

EVERY. Single. Bag. Tears apart as you try to pull it off the roll BEFORE you can use it. All went to trash - not to hold trash, but actual trash.

I wanted to like these bags so much because I really like the small ones, used them for a couple of years. But these are terrible. I'll gently lift up a barely full bag and the ties will just snap off. Very frustrating.

Important caveat about this review — I purchased these prior to cleaning out fridge/cabinets ahead of a move, so there were lots of jars/boxes etc. of leftover condiments and such, it was maybe a lot to ask of these bags. However, every single one I have used so far splits along the seam like that’s its job. Probably fine for regular day to day trash but definitely not up to the task at hand for me. I should have just gotten Hefty but plastic guilt got the better of me!

I want to move these so much, but the flaw is in the ties. They break every time my husband tries to tie them up. It’s a real shame as I love what they are trying to do, but will have to switch brands.

I started to realize how funny it was wrapping my recyclables in an unrecyclable trash bag... ie basically throwing trash in the recycling. Even as a 'regular' trash trash bag, I feel better using these 'cause there's already more than enough waste in the world so something I use multiple times a week might as well be earth-friendly.

Bags rip easily. They rip at the seam, when trying to pull them over the lip of my trash can. They rip easily if things are “too pointy” inside. I’ve purchased these bags (and the smaller, 4oz ones) for over a year. I can’t keep doing it though. I’m gonna have to let this size bag go and stick to the mini bags for my bathroom trash cans. The constant double bagging and/or having my bag hanging on to the can by 2 sides and falling in every time something is placed in it is super annoying. I’m done with them.

Tie strings snap easily. Bags tear easily. Multiple experiences of needing to clean the floor or inside of trash can due to leakage or breakage. Ended up double bagging which helped, but didn’t solve, the problem.

Ties break while tying. Not durable enough for kitchen use. Bags break open while removing from bin & are not stretchable enough to fit around standard tall kitchen trash bin. The final straw to make me write a review is how often the bags tear open - had to double bag to take outside wasting bags. Will not repurchase - not strong enough for heavy duty kitchen needs.

I tried compostable bags two years ago and they were terrible—they were flimsy and fell apart with trash in them. I stopped using them, but decided to give them another shot with Hold On bags from Target. What a difference! They didn't break down even with wet trash, and the handles stayed intact. I'm really impressed with this product!

I had high hopes for these but I have had to double bag several times due to ripping of the bags and holes forming. I’m not sure if it because of moisture or what. I’ve been very careful with them so I know I’m not over filling them. Just not worth the extra money, effort and forethought.

I rarely write reviews, but these bags are awful! If you throw away anything wet they deteriorate and fall apart. I had two separate incidents where the bags ripped and the trash ended up all over my kitchen. Then when I pulled out a second bag to use they ripped straight out of the box. I love compostable bags, but for me, these ones aren’t it.

Strong 13 gallon bag. We use these in our kitchen garbage can and typically use one to two per day. We don't over fill it, so we never had issues with it breaking. I do think they are less stretchy than the regular plastic ones, but it gives us some peace of mind knowing these bags are compostable. Hopefully as more of us use them, the price will come down for everyone to be able to use them.

I love the idea of these as I try to be as environmentally conscience as I can but they do start to fall apart when wet stuff gets put in them. It's a bummer because I loathe plastic and I wanted these to work. I'm double bagging what is left of the box because I don't want to waste them. Not sure where I go from here.
