Q: Does it have to be plugged to the window or can it work without the hose in th window?

  • A: No — for actual cooling the portable air conditioner must have the exhaust hose connected to a vent (typically a window). That hose removes the hot air the unit pulls out of the room; without it, the machine would just circulate warm air back into the space and wouldn’t effectively cool.
