Haunting Adeline - by H. D. Carlton (Paperback)

loved this book & the sequel- incredible story! That being said, I feel that the only people writing negative reviews are people who dislike the triggers the author clearly communicates in the books opening pages so if you’re okay with the triggers then this is a story you won’t want to miss!

Expect intense chemistry, morally gray characters, and a storyline that leans hard into taboo territory. It’s gripping, unsettling, and not afraid to push boundaries—perfect if you enjoy romance that blurs the line between desire and danger. Just be ready…. it’s as provocative as it is addictive.

I did not like this book a lot. I feel like this book is too dark for me. Please read the triggers at the front of the book if you have any doubt bc I sure didn’t read them and regretted it. Some people may like this type of book but it’s not for someone looking for a sweet romance. Additionally my book had black drops of ink and smudges in it on random pages that sometimes covered works.

It took too long to get to an actual plot. I wanted to like this book so bad but after reading it, it wasnt worth the hype. If it was condensed a little bit, then maybe.

Bad writing, boring plot, was expecting more.

Captivating and you will lose sleep over this book. So intriguing beautifully written. You’ll lose your mind.

If you are dark romance girlie, this a MUST read. Takes place during the fall/halloween season. Enemies/ Lovers Trope. It is part of a duet. Second book is much dark than this one. The story was intriguing and a total page turner!

It’s literally just smut

!!!Check the trigger warnings!!! Don't read if you can't handle what they might stir up in you. I'm an avid dark romance/pitch black/taboo/horror/splatterpunk reader and HA brought up some things for me... so proceed with caution. That said, if you enjoyed L!ghts 0ut and need something darker and more obsessive, this is the right book.

Book is literally about grape fantasy

It’s an adult fantasy spicy book for sure that delves into fetishes & crime. My critique is not on the fetishes but rather the character development and writing itself. In terms of literature, the writing is very fan fiction-like. The dialogue is odd at times and some of the characters especially zade are questionable. It’s a story that is poorly written but entertaining. It’s a Guilty pleasure type of book so to speak. However, in terms of the plot I did find it fast paced and I wanted to keep reading to see what would happen which I do appreciate. I do like mystery and crime so maybe that’s what kept my attention. The plot sounded mysterious and sexy on the preface but the execution on paper was a letdown. Like anything else, enjoying the book is subjective. You won’t know if you are going to like it until you read it.

I wasn’t that impressed with Haunting as much as I was with Hunting Adeline. The main characters seemed very immature in the first one. For some reason I picked up Hunting Adeline and loved it.

This book is garbage. Writer self insert, plus a gross love interest, plus boring spice. Skip this one and find a real dark fantasy, not this mess. It is neither well written nor entertaining. I would rather read twilight, at least it's a fun read.
