Q: My vacuum runs for about 5 minutes then it over heats. Filter is clean. Container is probably a quarter to 1/2 full before over heating. I bought it a year ago. Any suggestions?

A: To access the dust cup, detach the handheld vacuum from the wand. Press the two release latches on the bottom of the dust cup at the same time, then slide off the dust cup. To store the handheld vacuum while emptying the dust cup, hang the hand vac from the storage hook on the wand. Align the catch on the side of the handheld vacuum over the hook. Hold the dust cup over a trash receptacle. Press the Empty button (with the trash can icon) on the front of the dust cup and pull open the lid until it clicks and locks open. Tap gently to empty the contents and remove any debris from the cone-shaped screen inside the dust cup. Close the dust cup lid, pressing until it clicks into place. To reinstall the dust cup, slide in the front end first, then the back, until both ends click into place.

I really love a corded stick vacuum and the light so, I can see all the dog hair. Since I have two cats and two dogs there is an abundance of fur everywhere. Although, I haven't had this vacuum for not even a year yet and it's starting to get extremely hot and has been very loud. After I run the vacuum for not even 5 minutes my ears are hurting from how loud the motor is. I'm hoping the warranty is going to help with this or something... This is a malfunction in the product and seems to be a common occurrence. I will have this for a year in November.

I recently purchased this Shark vacuum and overall, I am very impressed with how powerful it is. It does an excellent job on both floors and carpets, and it’s been very convenient to use on stairs and even in my car. Compared to other vacuums I’ve owned, this one definitely performs much better. That said, I do want to share an important safety concern. While the vacuum was on and standing upright, my young son touched it and his finger got caught in the suction. Thankfully, he pulled it out quickly, but it peeled the skin off his finger. It was painful and could have been worse. Because of this, I strongly recommend keeping the vacuum away from children and pets while it’s running, as the suction is extremely powerful. Overall, it’s a great vacuum for cleaning, but please be cautious about safety when kids are around.

For the price, this vacuum is awful. The stand upright feature will not work, it only 3 months since we bought it. It will not suck up sand and little dog kibbles. The cup gets clogged and won’t allow anything into the larger part of the cup. Overall I’m so sorry I bought this vacuum and will be replacing it with another brand.

This vacuum has almost everything I want except the one big flaw ... It quickly gets very hot! While vacuuming my car, I had to turn off the vacuum multiple times to let it cool down so I could continue.

I have always been a Shark vacuum user and recommended it to all. I recently got a stick vacuum and am very disappointed in it. The container has 2 compartments and the one fills up super fast and has to be emptied instead of using the other compartment. I feel like I have to empty it 8-10 times depending on how much of the house I vacuum. This is insane.

This vaccum was great at first but once we got a dog it’s became awful. Gets clogged after a minute of vacuum and over heats every time. Not worth the money or the hassle. Wanted to love this product but had to get rid of it.

This item is not lightweight. It is so top heavy that it will not stand up on its own. It doesn’t work at all on plush carpet or throw rugs which get sucked into the vacuum and have to be manually removed.

Don’t buy this vacuum! It’s a piece of garbage. I got it as a replacement of my old Shark Rocket Deluxe vacuum. After only two weeks of using it something in the head of the vacuum broke and it no longer stands upright. AFTER ONLY TWO WEEKS OF USE! I was randomly vacuuming my bathroom when I heard a crack, then for a few seconds the head felt stiff and didn’t want to maneuver and when it started maneuvering it was no longer standing upright. It is made of very cheap and low quality plastic and it is good for nothing. Too bad because otherwise the suction power is great and it is very lightweight, it picks cat hair and litter pretty well but it is still a garbage. I am very disappointed because my previous Shark vacuum was great.

The items began to slow down and in less then 30 days it shut down/ wasn’t working and target was expecting me to have the package of a large vacuum cleaner? I said it wasn’t my intention to come back in less than 30 days to get full refund for a product I honestly hope to be a new member of my cleaning support team. Shark company was super helpful and kind and they could only do part items return… since I purchased from target and it’s been less than 30 days you should be fine in returning the items since there appears to be a defect

I’ll give it two stars because it does pick up hair quite well…. when it works. It overheats when you have it on longer than a minute or two (it overheated from picking up crumbs…🙄), and while it picks up everything, maneuverability is less than stellar. I’ll just stick with a classic upright.

I don’t like that the motor blows out hot air right into your face while you’re vacuuming, and that it blows at counter height as well. I ended up returning because of this.
