A: We would like to let you know that this unit does have a self-cleaning brushroll. To keep hair off the brushroll, the self-cleaning brushroll has anti hair wrap strips that will constantly make contact with comb, creating a different tone from a traditional vacuum.

The only times I’ve had to remove anything was a long string of thread or something that wrapped up and dog hair then got caught in that. I clean off the brush roll when I do the filters and it’s never much and usually I can just pull it, no scissors needed.

Q: Does the vacuums catch compartment filters be removed out of the catch compartment? Maintence hasn't been easy, I wasnt able to take the brush roll can that also be removed for better maintenance?

A: We would like to let you know that you can remove the foam and felt filter (located in the unit under the dust cup) to be able to wash the filters (with water only and allow to completely dry before putting back inthe unit). The brushroll is not a removeable part from the floor nozzle. To eaily remove hair and debris from the brushroll we recommend using scissors to cut any hair or strings to make easier to remove.

A: Some pitch difference versus an older Shark is normal, but a loud ringing tone is not. Power off and check the entire airflow path for a clog, then open the floor nozzle and clear any debris around or behind the brushroll; a change in noise while vacuuming is a sign of a blockage. Make sure the dust cup is fully seated, the filter door is latched, and the pre motor and HEPA filters are clean and completely dry before reinstalling. If the ringing persists after these checks stop using the vacuum and call Shark Customer Service at 1 855 427 5127.

Hate this model. I loved my two prior Sharks. But this one is super hard to push/maneuver even on low pile. I didn't realize it did not have the self propel feature. When I was looking to buy I wasn't able to tell which models had that feature, so I assumed it was standard since it wasn't mentioned on any of them that I could see. It also feels cheap compared to the other ones I had. It does seem to have decent suction at least, though I see other people didn't think so.

The only thing I would say that this vacuum is missing is the led headlights. Definitely something that is missed from my previous vacuum that we had to replace once it died, but it definitely does an amazing job at picking up pet hair and dirt on a combination of floors.

I bought this vacuum because it included the "pet multi-tool", but this was not in the box. A different attachment was included that does not have the brush. The box even has the image of the attachment with the brush. How can I get the correct attachment sent to me? Otherwise, I'll have to return it.

I want to preface this review with the fact that I found this on clearance at my local store for only $125, which was a steal. I’m not sure I’d be as happy with this purchase had I paid full price. I have a toddler who we recently found out is allergic to our dog and cat. I wanted to upgrade to a lighter vacuum with a good filter as I have to vacuum frequently to keep the dander. I previously had a lift away model that was bulky and cumbersome. This vacuum has made my life so much easier. It is light weight and easy to maneuver. I can get up under furniture easily as the vacuum head keeps contact with the floor even when the vacuum is bent almost all the way back. It sucked up a ton of fine dust, dander, and pet hair out of my medium pile area rug. I had just vacuumed the previous day with my Shark lift away too! There is a setting for carpet and hard floors. I was happy that the brush roll stays on (less intensity) with the hard floor setting as before I only had the option to have it on or off. It also did just as well on my hard floors. There was no hair stuck around the roller after I finished which was great! I actually like that the vacuum head is on the smaller side because I can get in tighter spots. The long hose is also nice to reach into tight spaces and under things. You can get a power head attachment for furniture and an angled one for getting under furniture for this model which I plan on purchasing soon. My biggest disappointment with this vacuum is that it does not have a light on the front like my other Shark did. It also doesn’t feel as nicely made as my other one did.
