Switch out the water for buttermilk. If you don’t have buttermilk, you can easily make it with regular milk and vinegar. Switch out the oil for butter and add an extra egg. This will take up the quality to a professional level.

No flavor
I don't get the positive reviews. This tastes like nothing, almost zero flavor. I've made red velvet cakes from scratch many times. With this mix, I added 1 cup of buttermilk, like in a from scratch cake, rather than the water. Nothing. My kids said it tasted like eatng a piece of sugary bread with my homemade cream cheese fronting, the only thing that had any flavor. The only positive thing I can say about this is it was moist.

I buy this alot to make for my family.. i always add extra water and cook it the least amount of minutes specified and my cakes always come out moist and soft.. im not sure y so many bad reviews.. may add more water or cook it less lik I do.. the chocolate taste is VERY subtle .. the cake bakes up soft moist and red as a red velvet cake should b.. I add the cream cheese frosting and this cake is always a hit.

Not sure what you have done to all your cake mixes, but they are awful now. They are all dry crumble. I have tried 4 different kinds and straight by instructions, and altered on the second go around. I have been buying Betty crocker and making my cakes for years, always get raves. I will no longer buy any of your products.

Misleading packaging. Was given the Betty Crocker Delights Red Velvet cake mix as a gift. It looked simple enough on the box. But, what it failed to mention was that there was no frosting mix included, no list of ingredients needed or even a recipe to make your own frosting. Who wants to eat red velvet sponge without frosting?! I had to not only source the recipe for making frosting but I then had to go and buy the ingredients too. I may as well have made the whole thing from scratch in the first place. Disappointing.

I loooove red velvet cake. My mom used to make this cake for me for my birthday when I was little! It’s pretty dense, but still soft and moist, and it’s very sweet and rich, so you can’t have too much! It pairs perfectly with cream cheese frosting!

Get out Karen, this is Betty’s time. Don’t mess with Betty. Delicious and yummy! I love this brand and flavor! Easy to follow the instructions and tastes great! It’s very affordable and I highly recommend that you stick with Betty! She’s less drama! Best brand and flavors out there!
