    Planters are not deep enough.

    Their 10-inch planters still have a good height-to-diameter ratio. They are deep enough for roots to grow; all the others just have useless proportions. For a 6-inch planter, the depth must be at least 8 inches, and for an 8-inch planter, the depth must be 10 inches. For a 10-inch planter, 10 inches of depth is enough. Roots, whether for small or larger plants, usually grow deep rather than sideways. Making a shallow pot is like serving soup on a plate to drink from. Up to 8 inches in diameter, increase the height of the planters by an extra 2 inches.
