Hearty Vegetable Soup - 24oz - Good & Gather™

Will never buy this again. Why put sugar in it? I could only eat a couple of spoonfuls. Had to throw it out. You don’t add sugar to soup. The only good thing is I kept the jar but disappointed my mason jar lids don’t fit it.

I love that this soup comes in a glass jar and I don’t have to worry about BPA. Apparently I was so impressed with that that I neglected to read the label. This has a lot of added sugar and I can taste it. It taste good so I gave it three stars, but I think the sugar cancels out the other health benefits I was looking for.

Soup flavor and thickness is very good. Firm and not mushy vegetables. Purchased on a regular basis now.

OH MY GOODNESS this is soooo GOOD!! Yummy! After shoveling snow for hours we decided that nothing would hit the spot better than a grilled cheese and tomato soup. I purchased this on a whim a few weeks ago and decided to try it today. Let me tell you, from the first sip I was like "WOW!" I have severe food allergies and I have a lot of trepidation when it comes to try new food. Not this. I power slammed this soup in about 2 minutes flat and, praise the Lord, NO adverse reaction. Thank you for the clean ingredients!!! :) Shortly after I finished eating my husband came out of his office and said "Holy cow, that soup was sooo good!" He's very mellow and it's hard to get a reaction out of him, so that's a high compliment. Also, I'm vegetarian and he's not, so we rarely agree on food, but this soup is legit! PLEASE don't ever stop making this!! Thanks!!

Was so excited to see a vegetarian soup, but its almost inedible due to how sweet it is.

No idea why they added so much sugar but it makes the soup absolutely horrible. Sugar is literally the 3rd ingredient, like eating a hot soda. Terrible.

I’ve never rated anything from target before but this soup is so odd to me. I wanted a basic vegetable soup and thought this would be perfect but it’s so so sweet. I tried everything from adding chicken broth to lots of lemon to fix the flavor but it was still so awful to me. If you want a very sweet vegetable soup you’d probably like this more than me but I just wish it didn’t have as much sugar.

Just as other reviewers have stated, this is basically tomato sugar stew. How did this pass the product development stage and taste testing to get to shelves??? It’s disgusting. Such a waste of vegetables and money. Why would anyone developing this think someone buying a savory vegetable soup would want the third ingredient to be sugar?? Mystified.

Why is this vegetable soup sweet? Inedible.

Vegan label so I expected a basic vegetable soup and no need to read the label. From the first bite I was shocked at the overwhelming sweetness, like ketchup-level sweet. I read the label and found that there was actual sugar added, a lot of sugar. It is the third ingredient after water and tomato. Very disappointing.

Don’t buy this. Target needs to stop producing it. 15g of sugar is not okay in a soup. Yuck and so bad for us.

Sugar added as 3rd ingredient! Shame on something described as made with a variety of veggies. Someone with diabetes could pick this up as healthful. Vegetables were lovely and not mushy but sugar wrecked it.

Wasn’t expecting much since soup not freshly made can often taste blah, but this is really good. Rich and tasty broth, good veggie level…will likely repurchase since I don’t have time to make homemade.

We are a big soup family. We make homemade soups all the time. This soup was not what I was expecting. It had nice big chunks of vegetables in it, but the flavor was very sweet. It didn’t have much flavor besides tangy / sweet. I was hoping for more flavor from the veggies but maybe this is pretty typical for jarred soup. The jar was very nice and will be getting reused for sure. It has nice measurements on both sides of the jar. It was also enough to feed 2 people.

Broth is thick but way too sweet. The vegetable sizes are mixed with a strange texture.

This vegetable soup is absolutely delicious It is nice and thick and full of flavor. It actually even tastes homemade I served it to my family and they didn’t know the difference. It is filled with high-quality vegetables. It would be served well with grilled cheese sandwiches or it could be served as an appetizer with any dinner. It is perfect for this colder time of year.

I love a good veggie soup and was excited to try this one. I loved the idea of it coming in a glass jar instead of a can. It seemed like it would be fresher and better tasting. The directions for preparing it are super simple, just like canned. You can microwave it or heat it in a pan on the stove. I poured what I wanted in a bowl and heated it in the microwave. I was impressed with how loaded with chunks of veggies it is. Upon tasting it I found I was right about the jarred soup being much fresher than the canned. The veggies are crisp and not mushy. I really like that. I did not love the taste of the soup though. It has a very, very sweet tomato taste. Much like a sweet spaghetti or pizza sauce. I did not like that taste at all. But I do have to say the quality of the soup is good and it has a ton of veggies in it. If you think you might like a sweet veggie soup then this soup is for you.
