Q: The ingredients list bleach (Sodium Hypochlorite). Why does it have bleach? Why would people spray bleach on their face?

  • A: Thanks for the question! Sodium hypochlorite appears in trace amounts as part of the chemistry used to create hypochlorous acid (HOCl). This trace amount present does not mean bleach is being sprayed on your skin. The formula is carefully balanced so hypochlorous acid remains the dominant, skin-friendly ingredient. For reference, medical hypochlorous acid solutions (including the PanOxyl Antimicrobial Purifying Mist) are thousands of times weaker than household bleach and are formulated at skin pH. That’s why they’re widely used for wound care, sensitive skin, and post-procedure care.

Q: I've heard hypochlorous acid can help with blepharitis but haven't seen anyone mention this specific product for that, so is this safe to spray on or around closed eyes?

I didn’t even know something like this existed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] There’s not really a strong scent of any kind. The texture is just like a milky liquidy substance. I haven’t had any irritation with it. I love the spray nozzle. I only have to spray it like two or three times to get my whole face and then I rub it down in my neck.

Gets the job done!

My skin had a little flare up and these photos are within the same week! I used the spray both morning and night after cleaning and followed with my usual skin care routine. Usually with a flare up it takes a bit longer to heal. The product doesn’t feel sticky or leave a residue, it feels like a regular toner and absorbs well. Will definitely make sure to keep this on my shelf!

Good value mist

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After seeing good results from other panoxyl products to treat acne, I was excited to try the new hypochlorous mist. I have used a similar formula from a different brand before, so I had something to compare it to. First thing, the “mist” or how it sprays is not ideal, it’s more like droplets. Fall on the face in bigger patches than evenly distributed mist, which takes longer to be absorbed into the skin. It is unscented but you can smell the active ingredient in it, something to keep in mind if you’re overly sensitive. It wins when it comes to the price, you get a much bigger bottle for less than half the price of another brand. Overall, if you’re in the market for a hypochlorous mist, definitely give this one a try.

Smells like bleach

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I thought this hypochlorous acid spray was ok. The main downside for me was that it smelled a lot like bleach when I sprayed it on my face which was unpleasant and puts me off from wanting to use it consistently. Instead, I’ve been using this after a sweaty workout on my back which is where I tend to sweat more. It dries down and doesn’t leave a stickiness and seems to be helping with breakouts that I get. It also seems like a much better value than other prestige brands.

Heavy spray but good product

I have been using it on my acne prone skin and with my other products I feel it might be helping. The scent is ok and it dries fairly quick but leaves my skin feeling a little wet.

Great Protection

No acne back for me

I use it on my body and face and it leaves my skin hydrated as well as helps with the dark spots and soothe my skin when it’s extremely irritated. Once i get a breakout I spray and it helps reduce the breakout. All in all this is apart of my body care especially during menstrual time.
