Q: I've seen sites explaining that 10-guage aluminum is not as thick / desirable as 18-guage. Did NordicWare change the aluminum to save cost?

  • A: Hello, General maximum temperature recommendation for the Nordic Ware Naturals Bakers Half Sheet is 500 degrees. The pan is safe to use and will perform at higher temps. For example, you are free to use the pan when broiling. Oil can become permanently baked on to pans at higher temperatures and the pan may discolor or take on a bronzed patina.     awesome baking sheet

    Love these baking sheets! I use them for everything. I have 3 sizes & the round pizza sheet. My chef friend highly recommended this brand. Works perfectly when I pair it with parchment paper. No worries of nonstick coming off. I Always hand wash...people read directions!!! Not everything goes in the dishwasher

    Be Careful

    Bought two of them as they were on sale. However, they are absolutely not non-stick. I used them for baking and had to use some baking soda to remove the grease. Both of them became so discolored after just one wash and this made me concerned if it is safe to use them for cooking.

    Beware of the bumps

    I made about 10 half sheet cakes with this pan for a wedding. I found it to bake the layers evenly without any excessive browning like you might find with cheaper pans. The weight is the same as a restaurant half sheet pan I own. The reason I deducted a star is because the insignia at the short end of the pan is raised. This can be a sticking point for cakes/cookies/bars unless you use parchment. I can’t get my head around why they had to make it raised because no baker would want any bumps on a baking pan. Please change this!

    Flaked aluminum in your food!!

    I thought this was a good company and I bought from them before but just got two sheet trays and went to give him a quick wash before using them and either gently using a regular sponge scratched them horribly or they came completely scratched, like to where chunks have come off and its a different color. The instructions say scratching is normal and doesn't affect cooking pieces of flaked off aluminum in your food can't be healthy. Haven't even used them yet and guess I'm going to have to pull a plug on returning.
