About this item
Highlights
- From the creators of Exploding Kittens comes A Little Wordy; a new kind of tile-unscrambling game.
- Create a secret word from your pile of letters, then give your tiles to your opponent to try and figure out buying and using clue cards with beautifully illustrated birds like the Ravin’ Raven, Permed Eagle, or Yolo Dodo.
- A Little Wordy is a game for people of all vocabulary levels - rather than choosing a fancy secret word like “REPUDIATE”, you should pick a word like “TURD” which might be harder for big word-game brainiacs to figure out.
- A Little Wordy includes 16 clue cards featuring newly discovered birds drawn by the Oatmeal, 81 alphabetically correct letter tiles, 40 berry token, 2 dry erase player shields to protect your secret word, 2 draw erase markers, and 2 cloth drawstring bags for “vowels” and “consonants”.
Description
From the award-winning creators of the best-selling games, Exploding Kittens and Throw Throw Burrito, A LITTLE WORDY is a fresh take on the genre of word-unscrambling games. Rather than being another game of “who has the biggest vocabulary?” A Little Wordy requires players to assemble a word from a set of tiles and keep that Secret Word to themselves. Each player then takes turns trying to decipher each other’s Secret Word by asking for clues and hints.
You and your opponent are each given a pile of letters. Rearrange the letters in your pile until you come up with a word. Keep this word a secret. Scramble your letters and swap them with your opponent. Take turns trying to decipher each other’s Secret Word by asking for clues and hints.

Q: Is this a fun game to play together as adults, or more kid-friendly? Looking for something for a newly retired couple to enjoy together.
submitted by Mamaof4 - 2 years ago
A: This game is best played with players over 10 years old. It's perfect for adults, however it can be played with kids as young as 10. I wouldn't go younger.

One of my favorite games for a date night in. Easy to understand but challenging enough to keep us engaged for hours!

Be careful purchasing online. I bought this and when I received it it had already been opened and used. It’s missing tile pieces. The boards are smeared with black marker(they do not erase good apparently).
Unexpectedly really fun

This game was unexpectedly much more fun than I thought it would be. Played with my 11yo and 13yo, and we all got some good laughs in. I originally got it to help them with spelling and thought I would have to entice them to play, but after playing once, they asked to play more. Well done, simple but good family fun.
A little cheep

Fun game but I would have paid a little more for real pieces. I don’t like the cardboard tiles.

Really good fun and challenges conventional gameplay. Is it possible to get replacement shields though as they get tatty after a while?

I hated this game. I enjoy word games like scrabble but this one is awful. The clues aren’t helpful and the parameters of the game serve little to no purpose. I played it three times to give it a chance but when you play with people who choose to make words you rarely ever see being used both in verbal and written English language, it can become a bit frustrating. You almost need to have parameters surrounding what words you can actually use to make the game more enjoyable so you don’t have one player putting together words that are commonly used and one pulling out words from the 18th century. Again, scrabble is somewhat similar as you have to create the words to win points so the same premise is there, creating words with what you have in front of you but it is both fun and a mental challenge but this particular word game could use a bit more fun.
Best game ever!

This game was a hit the very 1st time we played it. My one wish is that we could get some expansions for this game to make it feel leas repetitive!

On the card quid pro quail...As it's Quid pro quailGive and takeAnd requires you an your opponent to reveal a tile letter that hasn't been revealed...May an opponent use the card if they can not also reveal a tile.I.e.All letter tiles in the word have been revealed, all the non letter tiles have been removed,And the exact number of letters is also revealed and the player just need to figure out spelling. Can a player still use that clue card if the player can not also reveal a tile letter to their opponent that isn't already revealed.
Okay

Frustrating depending on random letters chosen. The possibilities of words can be many.
So much fun!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] "A Little Wordy" by Exploding Kittens is an absolute gem in the world of word games. I have to say, I'm pretty obsessed with it. If you're into wordplay and want a game that's both challenging and loads of fun, this one hits the sweet spot. The gameplay is delightfully simple. You draw 11 letter tiles and have to come up with a secret word using only those letters. Then you and your opponent take turns guessing the other person’s secret word. You can use clue cards to get hints, but your opponent gets to collect tokens when you use a clue card. It sounds easy, right? Well, it's deceptively tricky, and that's where the excitement kicks in. You have to race to be the first one to guess the other person's word, but you also have to try to collect more tokens than your opponent at the same time! You'll find yourself wracking your brain to come up with obscure words your opponent won’t guess right off the bat! Overall, "A Little Wordy" is a fantastic addition to the Exploding Kittens game family. If you're a fan of word games, this one's a must-try. It's perfect for laid-back evenings or whenever you're itching to put your word skills to the test. Exploding Kittens has delivered another hit, and I'm totally on board with it!

It's not just guess your opponents word, it's do it while earning the most points (berries). it's mostly quick and it's fun and you can esily spend an hour playing rounds of it and not notice the time passing.

Think you`re useless at word games? Not a `Scrabbler`? Well, try "A Little Wordy", and you may be pleasantly surprised (not horribly surprised; it`s not "Exploding Kittens"!) My wife, bless her cotton, isn`t a word -gamer. Me, I love `em, and crosswords, and codewords etc. So, when I received this as a Father`s Day prezzy, my immediate thought was "looks good, who am I gonna play it with?" However, as soon as I perused the roolz, I realised it could be fun-fun-fun, even with the wife!! The beauty is that, even for `word-blinders`, you have the option of checking your word in the `dic` before you start. Also, another beauty (or several, actually), are the Vanilla & Spice cards. These allow players to gather clues as to their opponents` mystery word . The clues cost you Berries (points) though, so you may discover the first letter, but it might give the other player an advantage in scoring. Neat!I`s a balance between going for `bigger` clues & guessing (or knowing) their word quicker, or being steadier & more sure before having a crack at their word. If you`re correct, the number of Berries each player has becomes more important! This is a cracking little game for 2.

It's like a mash up of Scrabble, Wordscapes, and Wordle. We love word games. I crush in Scrabble, he dominates Boggle. This had a bit more of an even spread and it was a ton of fun. Definitely recommend!

Husband and I are stuck in the same room because our dog just had surgery. I ordered this game before the unexpected surgery, so it was somehow written in the stars. We laughed. I didn't get mad. Success!
