Q: Does this come with filters? If not, what filters do I need and how many?

submitted by sn - 3 years ago
  • A: Hello, SN! Yes, the unit comes with the filter so that you can start your humidifier straight out of the box. The wick number, if you'd like to purchase an extra set with the unit is part number HDC411. If you have any other questions or concerns about our product, please email us at info@essickair.com. -Melissa, AIRCARE

Q: Can softened water be used?

submitted by rc - 5 years ago
  • A: Hello, RC! We do not recommend using softened water. If your water source is softened, it is okay. Please keep in mind you may need to change your wick filter more often due to the effects that softened water has on wick filters. -Melissa, AIRCARE

Q: Do you need to use distilled water if you have hard water in the tap?

submitted by KS Peg - 5 years ago
  • A: Hello, Peg! We do not recommend distilled water, regular tap water is fine. If you have extremely hard water, you may consider using distilled water as it will make cleaning your unit easier and it will help lengthen the life of your wick. We do understand that distilled water can be costly over time. Thanks! -Melissa, AIRCARE

Dry mountain air

Really bad design. The float rod does not stay in place. The hole and tab on the rod is useless. The rod easily slips out of place when refilling or replacing the fan top, then fan will not turn on because the rod is out of place.

Works Great Until It Doesn't

Returned the first because of vibration noise. Aircare replaced. 2nd one lasted a little over 2 years before the motor stuck on high speed. Next display read "F" though the base was full. Float is in place; resetting x 6 did not work. Dead humidifer full of water. Why can't American made product last?

Simplicity at its best!

Very simple to fill, and does a great job. Keeping it simple makes this the best unit for large homes! Love the easy bucket filling ability, no silly bottle filling. Don't ever stop making the Canyon model!

Great product

Had this for 6 years and works great. Easy to change filters, although water filling door could be larger. Make sure you use an anti fungal liquid.

No manual

Just bought this, got it home. Scanned the QR on the sheet like instructed. Nothing there for a manual. Went to the website like the sheet also mentioned as an alternative. Still no manual to download. Had to use Quick start guide. Not a good look to start with.
Poor first impression

Long Time Repeat Customer

We recently replaced our Horizon home humidifier with a new one, following MANY years of outstanding service. We have been so happy with this product that we would never consider an alternative.

The EP9800 is Serious Gear For A Healthful Winter!

Absolutely love my EP9800 unit!! Been using this for years and just now thinking of getting another one. The uptick in quality of life that you get from humidified air is incredible - it is a medical upgrade in life to run a humidifier in your home. ===> The only issue that I have is the plastic filter housing is simply weird. Why is it so obtuse to change a filter? Those little tabs to open up the housing want to break. I would be completely willing to pay more for an upgraded housing for the filter. But I really appreciate that the filters are affordable. People, please don't be a cheap...change your filter regularly and you will be rewarded with cool moist air in the dry months. Carry On!!

Lots of broken parts

There were three parts that were broke. I’ll give it 2 stars because the return at the store was so easy.

When water runs out, should the humidifier stop?

I thought for this humidifier, when water runs out, it should be able to stop by itself. I only used it for about two weeks, today I forgot to add water, and it just kept running. And the air the fan blew out smells so bad like some chemicals. The filters were completely dry. Did I get a defect product?
