Q: 2 Years ago someone some stated that a "plastic" smell was emitted from this humidifier. Does this unit, now in 2022, still emit a bad smell when running?

submitted by BJGA4 - 2 years ago
  • A: mine had it for a few cycles then stopped . It wasnt terrible, obviously not pleasant but not a deal breaker . I dont like to smell chemicals but for the limited time it did it i felt like it was ok

submitted bytb - 1 year ago
  • A: I just received my unit yesterday and can confirm that it does have an absolutely terrible stench. It was so bad that my roommate down the hall started yelling in disgust and asking what that smell was. I took it outside today and ran it on high for a couple hours but that did not help. I just put it back outside to run for longer, if I remember I will come back with an update.

submitted byRyan - 2 years ago
  • A: Thank you for your inquiry. Occasionally, new units can have a "plastic" smell from the plastic that the units come wrapped in. If you place the humidifier into a well ventilated area for a few hours, this will allow the smell to dissipate. If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact our consumer relations team by emailing us at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com. Thank you.

Q: I just bought one of these today. When I started running it, the humidifier put a "plastic like" smell into the room. Will it continue to do this or is this something that should go away with continued use?

submitted by PS - 4 years ago
  • A: Thank you for your inquiry. Sometimes a new unit can have a plastic smell from the packaging. We would advise airing the unit out for a few hours in a well ventilated area and this should get rid of the smell. If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact our consumer relations team by emailing us at SocialSupport@HelenofTroy.com. Thank you.

  • A: Mine has continued to emit the smell, which is no doubt toxic, and I would recommend against purchasing this humidifier. They told me to run it for 12 to 24 hours straight on high power, which I had already done (I've had it a little more than a week) but did so again, and it didn't clear up the problem as they said it would. Absolutely unacceptable and probably dangerous to your health.

submitted byWillE - 3 years ago
  • A: I wish I would have read these before I purchased it. I have been running mine for weeks now and the horrible chemical plastic stench will not go away. It angers me to see the reply about it being the plastic that it is wrapped in and don't want anyone to be fooled by it. The smell is coming from the unit itself and it's obvious. I took it apart and washed it and it did nothing. I'm very angry as I've always bought Honeywell and now I have to find a new humidifier brand.

Q: What is the size of the tank?

submitted by Me - 2 years ago
  • A: This tank is a little bit smaller than one gallon. It is maybe 9/10 of a gallon. I tried 3 times to fill it from a one gallon bottle of water, and 1 gallon of water never fit in this tank.

submitted bydn - 2 years ago
  • A: Thank you for your inquiry. This humidifier holds 1 gallon in the water tank. If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact our consumer relations team by emailing us at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com. Thank you.

Q: what type of water do you use

submitted by region - 3 years ago
  • A: If you use distilled water, it will not work at all. It BOILS the water and it gets very hot, so my whole house smelled like chlorine. I loved this machine except for that, and returned it.

submitted bydn - 2 years ago
  • A: Thank you for your inquiry. You can use regular tap water with this unit. You can also use, or mix in, distilled water to reduce the mineral content of the water. If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact our consumer relations team by emailing us at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com. Thank you.

Q: Can this be refilled from the top with a pitcher or do you have to pull off the whole container and turn upside down to fill it?

submitted by OurMedGuide - 5 years ago
  • A: You must pull it off and turn it upside down to fill it. However, it has a great built in handle, very large easy open cap, and holds less than 1 gallon of water. So I found it very easy to fill.

submitted bydn - 2 years ago
  • A: Thank you for your inquiry. This is not a top fill model. You must remove the tank from the unit in order to fill it. We hope this is helpful. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. We can be reached by emailing SocialSupport@kaz.com. Thank you.

Q: How can I clean this? When I put it away for the season and come back, it has a nasty orange film on it.

submitted by Emma - 2 months ago
  • A: Thank you for your inquiry. We would recommend disinfecting your humidifier with a solution of bleach and water as outlined in the owner's manual. If you have additional questions or need further assistance, please reach out to us by emailing SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com.

Q: What mechanism does this use? Is it ultrasonic or steam or vaporize? Thanks

submitted by Gloria - 1 year ago
  • A: Thank you for your inquiry Gloria. This is a Warm Mist Humidifier, and it uses a heating element to boil the water. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact our consumer relations team by emailing us at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com. Thank you.

Q: how hot does the humidifier get

submitted by COOL guy - 1 year ago
  • A: Thank you for your inquiry. The heating element gets got enough to boil water. However, the plastic is made to transmit heat poorly, meaning the unit will not get very hot. However, it will still be very warm while running and we do not advise trying to move the unit while it is running and to let it sit for at least 15 minutes once it is turned off before moving it. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact our consumer relations team by emailing us at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com. Thank you.

This is the cheapest made humidifier I’ve come across. I used it twice and it wouldn’t work anymore because it had to be cleaned already. This should be half the price it is if it’s this cheaply made. I had a $10 one that never needs cleaning and still puts out like no other. This is pathetic. Once it does work it’s ok. Not a lot of mist comes out at once, but it does add humidity. But at what cost? Cleaning it every single time you have to use it? Especially if/when you’re sick, which is when a lot of people need them the most. Laughable.

Horrible Smell

K8 - 9 days ago, Verified purchaser
As other reviewers have stated, this has an incredibly strong smell of burning plastic when in use. Thinking it may have been my faucet water making it smell, I tried using filtered water, and the same smell prevailed. I ran the humidifier for three days and the smell did not subside at all. It is an overpowering smell that is hard to ignore. The base also gets very hot, so I would not recommend leaving this on a carpeted floor for an extended period of time.

Good humidifier; added benefit of essential oil cup

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This review was collected as part of a promotion for Influenster. This Honeywell humidifier is the perfect size. It’s small enough that it easily fits anywhere you want to put it in your room, it’s quiet and it’s easy to assemble, clean and put back together. It also has the finest mist to the point that you can barely see it. I have definitely seen an improvement in the moisturize of my skin with the warm mist. My other favorite part is the essential oil cup. The only drawback is the smell. It does smell like plastic during the first few uses but the smell does seem to go away especially with the essential oils.

I own six of a previous version of this humidifier, and I wanted another one. In this one, the heating element is coated with plastic, I assume to make it easier to clean. But what a TOTAL FAIL!! The plastic heats up and smells horrible! I put it oudoors for two days to see if it would outgas, but it didn't. I brought it back inside, and it still stinks of plastic -- totally toxic! It's going back. No way is this healthy!!

It works well enough, but the strong burning plastic smell renders it unusable. There's no way breathing this mist is healthy. It's a real shame because this was purchased to replace an older version of this humidifier from the same company--that one was fine, and there were no awful plastic fumes.

I’ve had this for about a year and it’s just okay. Good price point but my biggest complaint is the build up. I live in Vegas and the water is hard here and it gets significant hard water build up that needs to be cleaned out once a week. I have not tried distilled water yet. It seems excessive and so I don’t use it much because of that. It’s not very powerful either so it really only helps in a small bedroom

Fine fine mist

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received a free Honeywell Warm mist Humidifier with Essential Oil Cup in black from Honeywell and Influenster for my honest review. You know you’re an adult when humidifiers get you excited lol! I really love the Honeywell warm mist humidifier because it’s so easy to use and it’s made like a humidifier should be. My last no name humidifier was so awful I threw it away 4 months before I was offered this one. The mist on this Honeywell is super fine. There is no fine mist spraying out the top, the mist is virtually invisible, which I love. It has a high function and a low function, with the high function it actually raised the humidity 20 percent in 2 hours in our bedroom. On the low function it raised the humidity 5 percent over night. There was also about a quarter of the water left. The water reservoir is easy to fill and place back on the base, you can also take it off and refill it when the humidifier is on. I love that the air is warm, and it takes about 5 minutes to warm up and start. There’s a small bowl on the top that covers where the warm mist comes out that you can put oils in to fill the room with your custom scents. Another good thing about this is there are no filters. Just make sure you are using spring water if your water at home is not the best or running vinegar through it every once in a while to clean it. Overall I give this a 5 out of 5 and recommend anyone looking for a warm mist humidifier to consider this Honeywell warm mist for their home or office.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When the weather gets colder, I usually like to have a humidifier going once in a while in hopes to prevent my skin from drying out too much. This is especially nice for that season as it provides a warming mist on top of that. It doesn’t make the room any warmer but I feel that it prevents it from getting cooler from being in use, since that is sometimes the result of using a non-warming mist humidifier. The essential oils cup is a nice plus for when I want to subtly incorporate a scent. Overall, it is very straightforward and easy to use.

Wonderful humidifier with added essential oil cup

originally posted on influenster.com
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received my Honeywell Warm Mist Humidifier with Essential Oil Cup from Influencer in exchange for my honest review. I have used humidifiers for when my kids, husband or I were sick in the past, but none of them were anywhere near as impressive as this one. I have only used cold air humidifiers before and didn’t realize how much better moisture is dispersed by a warm air humidifier. Not only does it help with congestion, but it also makes my skin feel more moisturized. It runs very quietly, which is a big plus when trying to sleep. I really like having the added benefit of the essential oil cup, so that I can add eucalyptus oil when my husband and/or I are feeling under the weather with congestion. I also love to use lavender oil when I’m needing a little extra comfort to help me relax and get some sleep. Overall, I’m highly satisfied with this humidifier and recommended to family and friends.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was gifted this item free rom #influenster in exchange for my honest review. Moisturizing the dry air of winter has never been easier. A wide opening at the top of the water reservoir makes it easy to fill as well as wash out when needed. The tallness of the reservoir also assists to not spill water when moving the machine about. You are able to control the amount of moisture the machine produces by the turn of a dial. No mater which level you choose, warm mist is delivered in moments of being turned on. A built in kill switch of sorts that turns the machine off once out of water is a nice feature, as well as the optional space to add an essential oil should you choose to do so. It’s tall, sleek design takes up less counter space than other brands and runs on the quiet side. Would recommend.
