Burn risk
The unit gets really hot. The mist is like the steam from a pot of boiling water. You will burn your hand if you touch the plastic where the steam comes out or the steam itself. Not safe for around children. If it tipped over it would cause serious burns.

Leaks water, poor design
There is a lot of condensation buildup underneath the tray which leaks through the holes in the bottom and onto whatever surface it is sitting on. Have to wipe it up and dry it off daily. A very poor design. I will be going with a cool mist humidifier instead.

Worked two times. Had less than a week. I did smell a plastic odor when it did work but figured it would go away with time. Scale was more than any unit I have ever owned and certainly wouldn’t expect that much after two uses.

I’ve had this a couple of winters now and it still gives off a putrid burning plastic smell. The base also gets very HOT so be careful what you set it on. Gets scaly pretty quickly too. Pros: quiet running and easy to refill, which you will need to do a lot.

More of a vaporizer
This item is basically a vaporizer, not a true humidifier. You fill the water container, and about four minutes later steam will start to come out. It’s not a true humidifier where it blows out. Also, the entire unit is plastic, which yields a plastic burning smell. Opted to return and buy something different.

Heavy Scale after just 5 days!
Used the humidifier as recommended and the amount of scale inside the parts was more than I’ve ever seen! Also, it’s too much soft plastic. My bedroom smelled like a chemicals for days. Will be going back!

Not worth the maintenance hassle!
This filterless unit quickly accumulated heavy scale even though I used distilled water. After a week, I had to disassemble multiple parts and soak everything in vinegar, which is the manufacturer's recommendation. The cleaning process was tedious, especially when sick. Next season, I’ll choose a unit with a filter. This one is not worth the maintenance burden.

defective design flaw
This is our family's preferred style of humidifier. I needed to replace a couple this year, and whatever has been done to the design has absolutely ruined them. We've purchased 5 different units, from multiple retailers, and 4 of the 5 all have the same problem- they will run through at least most of 1 tank, but after that, the unit stops and the red tank-fill light appears. Tank is full, unit is not overheated, just stops. Retailers are putting them on sale to pass off the bad inventory on consumers.
