Q: I have had mine for two months and we use about 2-3 times a week. It still has a very strong new appliance smell, like burnt rubber or plastic. Did this happen to anyone else?
submitted by Xuli - 4 years ago
A:Â Yes, ours also had that chemical stink - we returned it because it didn't go away after trying to use it several times. We've had several Aroma rice cookers in different sizes before this one, and none of them ever had any smell at all.
submitted byHeather - 3 years ago
A:Â Hello, Thank you for contacting Aroma Housewares. Should you still have an odor with your unit. One trouble shoot to try to clean the inner pot as well as lid. You can add two cups of water along with 1 cup of a white or distilled vinegar. Set the unit to steam for 20-25 minutes. Once done wipe down lid with a cloth or paper towel. This will help clean off the lid as well as the silicon gasket. Should you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to contact me at customerservice@aromaco.com or call at 1-800-276-6286 ext. 1 M-F 8:30AM-4:30PM PST. You can ask to speak to me directly or any one of our knowledgeable representatives would be more than happy to assist as well. Q: Does this rice cooker have a removable inner lid for washing? The only part I see that can be removed on the lid is the steam valve, but this doesn't seem right since the entire inner lid is exposed to food.
submitted by kf - 5 years ago
A:Â The inner lid is not removable. We recommend using a gentle cleaning solution (soap, water and vinegar) to clean it off between uses.
submitted byAroma Housewares - 5 years ago
Brand expert
A: No, the inner lid isn’t removable. I wipe it down after each use and make sure I get the moisture out from under the inner seal. I’ve had mine for well over a year and this has worked fine for removing all the excess moisture.
submitted byRayRay - 5 years ago
Q: Does it over cook and brown the rice on the bottom of the pot?
submitted by Pipsqueek - 5 years ago
A:Â This Aroma rice cooker comes with Sensor Logic technology that is designed to cook rice without overcooking as long as the suggested amount of water is added to the rice.
submitted byAroma Housewares - 5 years ago
Brand expert
A:Â Cooks perfect as long as you follow directions on the amount of water.
submitted byShay - 5 years ago
Q: Does it ooze out any liquid out of the cooker while cooking?
submitted by PilarMastra - 5 years ago
A:Â Hi PilarMastra, It is normal to have steam coming out while cooking. If there is too much water or if the rice is not rinsed, this can cause the steam to have excess starch.
submitted byAroma Housewares - 5 years ago
Brand expert
A:Â No liquid oozes. There is a clear plastic cup on the back that catches in water from the steam.
submitted byShopper - 5 years ago
Q: Is the 20 cups uncooked rice or 20 cups cooked rice?
submitted by Rose - 27 days ago

Q: what is and exactly where on the appliance is the chemical that triggers the P65 warning at the bottom of the details page for this rice cooker?
submitted by Erika - 6 months ago
A:Â Hello, Thank you for contacting Aroma Housewares. With Prop 65 which is a California based initiative. It refers to any component on the unit that may be harmful. All our products have passed all FDA standards and are found to be safe for consumer use. The concern with Prop 65 is with a wire that runs from the power supply to the heating element. Should the unit ever catch fire, the fumes from the sheathing on the wiring can be harmful when inhaled. Under normal operation, there are no toxins that would leech into the food as it cooks. Should you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to contact our customer service team. They are in the office M-F from 8:30am - 4:30pm PST and can be reached at 1-800-276-6286 ext. 2198. Regards, Anthony Macalintal Customer Support Specialist Aroma Housewares Co. www.aromaco.com

Worst Model Ever!

GarciaA - 3 months ago, Verified purchaser
After having a different Aroma rice cooker for 12 years, we finally needed to replace it. Purchased this particular model, not once BUT THREE TIMES & they were all defective! The first one, the digital timer was messed up. It didn’t time properly during cook time, it wouldn’t switch to warm once it was done cooking; or show how long it was keeping it warm, if it did switch over. The second one, the seal was warped & it ended up spraying water all over the front during the cooking time. The third, not sure exactly what was wrong with it because it was a USED RETURN & in nasty condition!!! I’ll blame Target for the third because they obviously didn’t do their job properly by opening the box & checking the item when it was returned to the store. I debated giving it a whirl for a fourth time but after opening the box (in store) the seal on that one, was warped as well. Save yourself money, time & aggravation by NOT purchasing this model!
