Q: why does it contain 1g of added sugars?

submitted by Maro912 - 2 years ago
  • A: Thanks for reaching out and great question! Our Beech-Nut Organic Oatmeal Cereal does not have added sugars. In vitamins and minerals, there is something called an enzyme. This enzyme breaks down into a starch, which once dried breaks down to a sugar. Our cereal tastes a bit sweeter than whole oats because it has been partially dried and digested to make it into a very fine texture, safe for your little one to eat! Let us know if you have any other questions!

Q: Is the canister made with or without BPA?

submitted by Lee - 4 years ago

Q: It says it contains wheat (gluten) but is not listed as an ingredient, could someone please explain why?

submitted by Yesi - 5 years ago
  • A: Because we cannot get any guarantee of any cross contamination possibilities while growing the oat from our supplier, we indicate there is wheat. Just an act of overabundance. We do not add wheat to this product.

submitted by babeotter - 5 years ago

Q: Is this not Non-GMO? On other brand's oatmeal it says "on-GMO Project Verified"

submitted by Fischer - 6 years ago
  • A: Hello! Thanks for asking. All of our Beech-Nut cereals (rice, oatmeal, and multigrain) are Non-GMO Project Verified, but we only added the official seal to the packaging recently. Thanks for being a fan!

I'm horrified and feel betrayed. everything online said no added sugar and it's not listed as an ingredient but then you read the nutrient facts and there's added sugar!

I have a 8 month old and she’s been BLW. She’s a huge foodie and enjoys purées up to pastas and pancakes but as soon as she tried this, it was the first time she’s refuse to open her mouth. Sometimes she’d stick her tongue out to taste just to be polite but I could tell she didn’t enjoy the taste. I’m sure there are great benefits to this product but I personally bought this for simple convenience (for example, on the go or visiting her grandparents). I was mommies on TikTok and friends rave about this and sad to say, my daughter hates it lol We tried it a few times just to make sure and nope! And I’m not going to force my daughter to eat something she’s not enjoying. I hope your babies enjoy it if you end up buying it but if they don’t, at least you know you’re not alone haha

Added Refined sugar

1 out of 5 stars
Lucy - 3 years ago
If you order this you automatically get their new one which has refined sugar in it. Why even label it as such if you’re just going to give a different packaging? I don’t know if this is new packaging or it’s their old stuff. But either way it has the same barcode for the green bottle as it does for this one. But you’ll get the green one with refined sugar. What infant needs refined sugar? I just went with the earths best brand. Same ingredients no refined sugar

Beware of iron intake

My grandson had stomach issues after one serving! The iron intake is well over the recommended 1mg a day! This should not be given to 4 month olds! Too many additives as far as vitamins go. It took half the day for his stomach to calm. We will not be using it again. It's hard to know who to trust... do your own homework! Babies in general do not need fortified formula or food unless recommended by your pediatrician. Even CDC recommends a much lower dosage of vitamins and iron for babies! Very disappointed in Beechnut.

A woman in my baby group used this and her baby ingested many small pieces of metal. They weren’t the first family this happened to and they joined the class action lawsuit. Do not risk your baby.

I bought both the oatmeal and the rice. Both have metal shards in it. Absolutely horrible!
1 reply from Consumer Engagement team - 4 years ago
No need to worry! The metal in the cereal is the electrolytic iron that is in our vitamin premix. It is an essential vitamin that our little ones need. Perfectly safe! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out at 800-233-2468 or care@beechnut.com Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5pm EST Thanks!
