Q: I just received this, and there is a small clear plastic piece on top of the metal tube that runs up the middle of the inside (where the max fill line sits). Am I supposed to take this off or leave it on? There is no mention of it in the manual. Thanks!
A: I've had mine off for a couple of months now and haven't had any issues. I make sure to cover the metal tube opening with my finger when filling this up with water just so no water gets inside accidentally.
submitted bynerd4live - 4 years agoA: I contacted Bodum and they said to keep it on!
submitted bynatalie - 6 years agoA: no. well above the water line

Q: My first time using this it started to leak for the bottom. Has anyone had this happen to them?
A: Yes, mine leaked right away. There are some serious quality control issues here. Target gave me a refund, and I now have a flower pot - for artificial flowers, since I don't want water to leak everywhere.
submitted byDoggoLady - 4 years agoA: Did you remove the plastic hood inside the pot? It’s to keep water from getting into the tube, this is used to detect boiling.

Q: I purchased this kettle because my ceramic kettle stopped working suddenly after a year, did anyone notice the water boiled in this kettle is not as hot as other kettles (if you've used any before) that held bigger water capacity and high wattage of 1500?
A: Maybe the water cools off faster because the stainless steel doesn't retain heat the way ceramic does?
submitted byKathryn - 2 years agoA: I was able to boil about 16oz of water in 2 1/2 minutes. Boiling water is 212 degrees. I don't know how it could be less hot if its boiling... It'd have to be at least 212 degrees.

Q: is there any plastic in this kettle? I'm looking for one that has no plastic parts (including handle) I'm ok with Wood but not plastic.
A: Yes, there is a small plastic piece on the inside of the kettle. Also I think the handle also has it on the top of the lid.
submitted byMatt - 6 years agoA: I don't see any plastic aside from a small piece inside of the kettle that I was able to remove and continue using without issue.

Q: Why does my water for tea tatse so bad that I cannot drink it? It tastes metalic and like the way the heating element smells
A: It sounds like you may not be regularly descaling your product. Not descaling your kettles can lead to build up in the kettle, especially if your water is hard. To descale this product cover the heating elements with vinegar and water (2/3 water and 1/3 vinegar). Boil the solution in the product two or three times. Rinse out the appliance and wipe with a soft cloth.

Q: Is it okay that my kettle is starting to make a popping sound when heating up? I have had it for a few years now but it just started.
A: Make sure that the top of the base and the bottom of the Kettle body are completely clean and clear of any debris. Also make sure that you are regularly de-scaling your kettle according the manual since any potential limescale that builds up due to hard water can cause popping noises.
